Wasn't sure if I should start another thread, but hey, that's part of why there's a subboard, right?
If you have home wifi make sure to get either a 900MhZ or the new DECT 1.9 GhZ monitors. Many of the popular monitors (e.g. the Motorola video monitor that a lot of people like) use 2.4 GhZ, which is the same part of the radio spectrum as your wifi network. There are some internet-based monitors that you can just connect to your home wifi network and then watch with your computer or smartphone. That's better than the 2.4 GhZ monitor, but unless you really want to be able to share video of sleeping baby w/ grandparents, I still wouldn't these unless you can find reviews that say things like "doesn't use a lot of bandwidth". There's a good chance that the streaming video is really high-bandwidth and that will hamper using wifi for web browsing, Netflix, etc.
Oh, if you have an older cordless phone (lol!) for your landline (double lol!), those use 900 MhZ. The 900 MhZ monitors will interfere with the phone.

Yes.
This has happened in our house with just the sound monitor I think even. Our internet has chugged, though that's partly due to the fact we have 5 wireless routers running (for various reasons).
It does take up a lot of bandwidth, even when it's just sound fyi.
Wait I thought the Angelcare was on 900MhZ. Also, 5 routers ... can't you replace some of those with bridges??
our comcast one did not come with a router...we just switched to frontier, and theirs comes with it. we haven't had any problems so far, but it's only been 2 weeks. holy crap it's been 2 weeks already.

It's complicated. ;p Our new modem (when we moved and had to resched Comcast) came with a new wireless router (which we were not aware of until recently). But we had our old wireless router that everything's connected to anyway. And you cannot actually /turn off/ the wireless function on the Comcast modems unless you specifically call and request them to do it for you (wtf I don't even get why this is like this). Then, my dad insists we have to have a Korean voip phone in our house, which has its own base, which is its own wireless router. Then we have a wireless bridge because we "only" have one Ethernet port in our living room but 4 devices that need the internet. And then the sound monitors.
So I don't know which of them is causing problems, but we noticed insane slowness /after/ the baby came so... I assumed it was the sound monitors interfering. At this point, our house is a clusterfuck of wireless signals.
So, uh, some ideas.
(1) get the Motorola Surfboard SB6141, call comcast and tell them to turn off the Comcast modem and use the Surfboard instead. You just give them the serial number, they do everything remotely, then you restart all your routers and voila. When you hand in the modem you'll get $7/month off your bill (2) Korean voip phone bwuh? Like, it has to be Korean? Or it has to be able to make cheap voip calls to Korea? I don't understand ... what is it that your dad is trying to accomplish? (3) How old is the wiring in your house? Could you replace the phone jacks with ethernet? We did this because (FWP) we had too many wifi devices on our network for our router.
I hope that helps
ETA what is up with the emoticons, they are all wrong. The guy dringing a beer is supposed to be a grin, the guy saying "STAP" is supposed to be a wink.
niq. i'm entertained (although i'll admit i'm scrolling through most of it)..but it's interesting to see a whole nother lifestyle haha. interested in spunbutterfly korean voip with a korean number. i wonder if they have these for taiwan......
