I hadn't noticed when it was first posted... It reminded me of my friend whose daughter was taken by her mother (probably to South America) and never returned. He hasn't seen his only daughter in 5 years. My heart bleeds for him every time I think about it. She was 6 at the time. They were going to separate and next thing you know the two of them are gone. The mother is still currently "wanted" by the police. I cannot believe these things really happen.
Do you ladies have similar stories? [well, hopefully not!]
Yes I did. Then I got on the dueling Facebook pages between the two and the kids Interpol postings. I feel terrible for the mother.
There is a story about an African American mother who was previously married to a Korean. He too took the boy to Korea while they were suppose to be on vacation to Florida. She had an incredibly hard time getting him back. She basically hired a PI and stole him back in Korea ran to the US Embassy and begged for help.
When I filed for divorce, I got an immediate emergency restraining order. It bound me as well, but I wasn't worried about me disappearing with my kid. It wouldn't do much, but it was a start. Plus my ex is a Brit, and with Treaty of Hague something at least could be done if kidnapping was tried. In theory.
I weep for parents who know where their kids are, but can do nothing legal to get them back.
