It sounds like it's not fully opened. When it is, you wont feel it, it won't leak (unless you dont empty it!) and will be, essentially, air tight- almost a suction.
I would try a different fold to get it in. I hated the "C" fold or whatever fold they gave in the instructions. It never fully popped open for me that way. I would also practice using it when you dont have your period, including inserting it when you're in the shower. When it's fully opened, you should be able to sort of gently grab the bottom part (not the tip, but towards the bottom) and twist it around and it should spin pretty easily. After practice, you'll also be able to tell if it's not quite fully open, because sometimes it will seem open but one little lip will be bent in and that can cause a leak.
The instructions say it should sit super low in the vagina, but I have a high and off centered cervix and it "rides" higher for me but I've never had a problem. It just naturally moves up.
I'd say you just need more practice, a different fold, and lots of trial to feel what it feels like when it's correct.
What size are you using? I know it says to use a size 1 if you're under 30 and have never had a baby, but everyone's body is different, and you may just need a size 2 instead.
