Poor SD
I don't miss being a teen either. The only thing that helped me through the teen years was dancing. I had almost no friends at my actual school, but every day after school I'd go to dance class and those girls were great friends. I wouldn't go back if you paid me a million dollars.

Awww. Poor dsd. That sucks.
I do sometimes miss being a teenager. I was like, Suzie Highschool, and absolutely LOVED it, lol. I also really loved freshman year of college, living on campus, going to parties, etc. I miss not having as much responsibility.
Lurker chiming in, but the same thing kinda sorta happened to me. So I went with the guy my ex-bff liked and we're married now. (I liked him, too, so it wasn't something I did just to get back at her.) Tell dsd this could be a blessing in disguise. Plus, now she knows who her real friends are.

I don't think anyone in their right mind misses being a teenager, unless they're one of those unfortunate people who peaks in high school, never moves out of their hometown, and spends the rest of their life going to high school football games like they're the most important thing in the world.
College, on the other hand, is an awesome time to miss.
I miss being a teenager NOW that I have self-confidence and the knowledge that I didn't have then, lol. If that makes sense.
Mostly I just miss the times when I had no responsibilities and could sleep in and party a lot without feeling like crap in the morning
Yeah, I sometimes feel like I'd have a kickass time if I could go back with the confidence and knowledge I have now.
But mostly, yeah, I'm just glad it's over. I had some great friends in HS, but overall my social life sucked. I would never want to live in my hometown again, either.
I don't miss being a teenager at all. I never had the carefree no-responsibilities experience. Being a grown up is way more fun. I feel like Tom Hanks in Big: an adult-sized kid with a bank account.
Being a teenager was hell. I'm so sorry for your DSD, her friend is sucky.
Give her the things will get better in college pep talk. Because, things are better in college. I miss undergrad classes and having so few real responsibilities.
I miss having no real responsibilities beyond school, not having to work unless I wanted to, and just the general care-free-ness that comes with being 16. But I do not miss jerky boys, flaky friends, or Calculus homework.
