I think every mother who has faced delivering too early has felt like they failed. It simply isn't true. There is nothing you did to cause this and there is nothing that you could have done to prevent it. I had the same feelings when dd was born unexpectedly and emergently at 27 weeks. It is an impossibly hard place to be. Try to be kind to yourself.
I hope they can keep your baby in for many weeks, but if they can't, the NICU will take amazing care of her to help her finish growing on the outside. You've had the steroids which will help and she is at an age where babies can do really well. Girls also tend to do better than boys in the NICU. Lots of good thought to you and your baby.

I agree, I had a lot of guilt and what could I do when my son was born at 28 weeks. Nothing you did, and even though its hard, try to relax. Thankfully now they have a lot of ways of stopping labor, and holding that baby in. Wishing you tons of luck.
Happened to a friend of mine and they were able to keep her son inside for a month or more. Science is freaking amazing! Keep your head up, this has been a rough time for you

This is NOT a reflection of you or your ability as a mother. You have not failed. No matter what happens, you have done everything in your power to have a healthy pregnancy, and that makes you a wonderful mother.
I agree with Jermys, there is so much that can be done to help you and your baby along. You are getting the best help available, please try to keep focused on that.
Baby is head down. Plenty of fluid still. Est 4lb. Lots of cultures done. Will be in labor delivery for day or two w/ monitoring. Then will probably transfer to the ante partum (I think). Still not dilated! Depending on how things go they're going to try keep her in until 34w. Average they say they typically get 1 week.
