I think I'm ready to fire Comcast. Cable and Internet are now $211/month after their most recent pricing increase. Anyone use DirecTV? Any thoughts you'd like to share? I'm especially interested in hearing about their OnDemand shows. My kids watch Disney JR a lot On Demand. Any issues with reception?

we have directv because we hated comcast. it's been 3 years. we've never had any problems with them billing-wise, and generally if you call about your bill they almost always offer some kind of temporary HBO package or discount. we've only had a reception issue once when there was a blizzard and our dish got caked with really wet snow. it lasted a couple of hours, that's it.
i don't know anything about on demand though, sorry.
Comcast is the worst. I pay an extra $30 a month for fios Internet just so I don't have to have any Comcast. We have direct tv for cable and I love them. They always offer really good specials for premium channels and I have never had a reception issue with our dish. Also, our dvr is huge and holds a lot of programming. I don't use the on demand I am sorry I can't help you there. I do have amazon prime and use that for my nephew's shows all the time when he visits though so I can also tell you how awesome prime is.
We left Comcast for Directv about a year and a half ago. We've been pretty happy with them. Only receptions issues we've had is when it snows a lot and piles on top of the dish. Their customer service is also much better than Comcast.

We just got DirecTV about a month ago and we haven't had any issues with it yet. I like the Genie and the DVR interface. My parents and in-laws, who are scattered across the country, also have DirecTV and like it. I don't know anything about on-demand programming, but the music channels are just so-so.
That said, is AT&T Uverse available in your area? They would be my first choice. Tons of channels and I liked their DVR interface even better than DirecTV's.
Comcast is the devil. We had them for six years and constantly dealt with outages and price increases. I don't miss them one bit.
they were shady and crappy. I had them through my apartment complex when I lived in Michigan. When I moved to a place that had cable included, it took me TWO HOURS on the phone to get them to understand that No, I could not transfer my service. They sent me to multiple "closers" designed to somehow convince me that I should keep DirectTv even though I couldn't, becuase cable at my new place was covered and provided by Comcast. Then, they told me it would cost me $200 in order to drop their service, which I had for a whole 90 days, because of my contract, (again, but they'd be happy to "transfer" me to a place where I literally could not have used them if I wanted to.) I ended up having to "suspend" my account for TWENTY ONE MONTHS, which was the only way they would allow me to stop using DirectTv. I had an $18 dollar credit with them for eightteen months, and they would call me all the time wondering "why I would not re-start my service."
