kayak.com is a pretty good resource. otherwise if you have the flexibility you can search +/- 3 days of your desired travel dates and get the best deals that way too.
MM has some tips, certain days of the week are supposed to be better.
Also, clear your cookies/internet history before you buy, as it seems some places will increase the price if you come back to check fares a few times.
Seriously?! That's insane.
That's what I've been told. I don't do the online shopping at our house so not sure if it's a wide spread thing or not. But I've heard it from a few different people/places so it seems to be worth mentioning.
I do know that since we started researching baby items Amazon and a few other places that send us emails have started notifying us of baby specials/new baby items. So it seems they are tracking us.

If you have flexibility of when you leave, Wednesday is usually the cheapest day to fly. Tuesday and Saturday are also good, and Friday and Sunday are the most expensive.
The best ticket prices are supposed to occur on Tuesday afternoon. Also, you can check bing.com, and it tells you if the flight prices are expected to go up or down.
Also, the best prices for domestic flights are 8-12 weeks before a trip, and for international it's 4 months.
