...and I'm bored. I figured I would sign up and meet a few new people today. I guess I'll share a few interesting facts about me. I'm 30 years old. I have 2 cats,Bosco and Mia. I am from the Jersey Shore (yes, that Jersey Shore but I don't know Snookie or Jwoww;) ). In a few months,I am hoping to move out to New Mexico,as long as I am able to pass my licensing exam to be a counselor. So,if anyone can tell me about NM,that would be cool. I am also going to be getting married in a few weeks on April 27 so I have been wedding planning crazy and needed something else to focus on besides centerpieces.
So,if there's anything I forgot to include or anything...let me know. I hope I pass the initiation tests around here lol. Also, I am a complete newb at this forum stuff so I am totally winging this. I'd like to create a signature so if someone can tell me how...I'd like to include a picture of my cats.
Thank you:) Glad to meet someone else from Jersey. I used to live in Seaside and was forced to relocate because of Sandy. I miss the beach living. Still live somewhat in the area but it's not the same as the beach. Nothing else like it lol. Where were you from Puddle?
Cool! Morristown is a very nice area. I don't know much about Manasquan.I tend to stay in Ocean County. I will always be a Jersey girl...no matter where I go. The shore is improving, slowly and steadily. Seaside businesses have reopened but people's homes are still in need of repairs.Seaside homes did not have the destruction such as Lavallette,Ortley, and Mantoloking. There are still houses that are off their foundations and everything else in those towns. In Seaside, there was flood damage but the houses were still intact. I was in a second floor apartment so I was very fortunate,in that respect. However, the apartment was no longer habitable because of the mold. While I am glad that Seaside is pushing forward,it seems that the people who live there year round got forgotten. The mayor is all about the businesses and nothing is ever said how to help the people. Nice to know other people from Jersey:)

Tell me about going to SCHOOL to become a COUNSELOR.
What would you like to know? It's a blur right now lol.I graduated in 2010.I remember lots of tears because it's a growing process for sure.My least favorite class was one in which we were paired with a classmate and we recorded "counseling sessions",one of us would be the counselor and the other client. And we would switch. The video was then shown every Tuesday,on a big screen.Every flaw magnified x1000.That class caused me so much anxiety.Everything else was papers. One good thing about psychology is everything is usually brief.A lot of info in a short space. So a paper is like 7-10 pages.
I have a master's degree, which I sorta regretted getting until recently.I have a bachelor's level job right now so a master's degree is so not necessary for what I do but it's what I can find with my degree.I am usually over or underqualified.I am overqualified for the bachelor level jobs and underqualified for the master level jobs since I do not have a license.
My dream job used to be to work for DYFS.But after several interviews and never hearing back,I gave up on that. But I have an opportunity out in New Mexico to be a therapist working with kids and families, which is even better.

I just got accepted to start work on a BA in Psychology (I have an AAS in Early Childhood Ed). After that, I'm pretty sure I'm going for a masters in counseling. Right now, I'm a TSS (theraputic staff support), I work with kids with emotional/behavioral disorders.

I'm from Jersey too! Sussex County though, so I am kinda in the sticks...
I don't think I have been to Sussex County.NJ is so diverse. There is always something new to explore. I usually am in Ocean/Monmouth County.I am more familiar with the coastal part of Jersey.
Welcome! Another NJ girl here :-) I grew up in Burlington County, but now I'm up in Morris County ( my husband is from up here, so I moved up here after we got married) So I'm a north AND south jersey girl :-) I have a 2 1/2 year old son, and I'm taking some time off of my job as a speech therapist to be home with him. Good luck with the wedding and move planning!

Awesome congrats with your acceptance!!! It's a long process.I love what I will be doing and it is worth it,now that I finally have the job that I have always wanted. But what sucks are the loans.I thought with a master's I would be making some good money.I don't have high expectations at all because I know this field is for shit pay compared to other things. But I thought a master's 15-20 an hour would be nice.I make between 10-14 an hour. So,paying my loans back is not feasible.I realized that jobs don't pay for the degrees. At least, not in Jersey.Everyone has a bachelor's and schools are pushing grad degrees now.
Also,I was super anal undergrad. My transcript is super sickening with a's everywere.I am also a bit of a nerd.I really thought that it mattered. But,in real world land,it doesn't.As long as you get a degree, the job doesn't care what your grades were. So,in other words, don't stress it like I did. If I could tell my past self something,it would be that.

Welcome, I'm a wanna be Jersey shore girl lol. Spent all my summers vacationing there, plus some time working at various restaurants for the summers. My dad lives in Ocean County so I get down there as much as I can. I <3 Jetty.
Oh and good luck with the wedding planning! I got married at the Smithville Inn.

Lol!!! You seem like one of the nicer, cooler bennies:)
Welcome! I'm in a jersey 'shore' town. NON-IDENTIFIYING. Lol.
I'm so sorry to hear you lost your place in Seaside. I hope that things get much better and that you get this job!
I'm really hoping that many towns and their boardwalks can open by their projected dates. Some towns seem on target and others...; there's just so much to do. I don't think ours will be ready.
Another Jersey girl here. Originally from morris county now living in Warren County. I'm sorry about your place in Seaside, my best friend has a shore house in Ortley and managed to get by with minimal damage but it was still pretty bad.
