How do you deal with chronic pain? I feel like I'm at my wits end with my pelvic pain. I'm not a long acting narcotic, as well as a short acting narcotic. Somedays it's just exhausting in every way. Any suggestions on what others do? I wish my surgery was sooner than a month and a half.
I have chronic lower back pain that sometimes leaves me unable to stand or really walk, as well as going into my hips and feeling like my hips are burning and tearing.
Sadly, I cannot do anything about it. I take over the counter pain meds and sometimes just cry and try to go to sleep.
In my case, sometimes things like yoga, really easy moves, will help keep away the severe pain but it is always there.

I was wanting to try this after my surgery. I guess I didn't think of doing it before since pelvis pain makes me want to crawl up in a ball.
I had chronic lower back pain that was very bad for a long time....years. I went through consistent chiro, massage therapy and acupuncture treatments and they helped, but I had to keep up with it. It wasn't until I started doing yoga frequently and regularly that I saw major improvement. Now I visit the chiro once every month or two and I do yoga 5 to 6 days a week.
I'm sorry you are in a lot of pain. I hope you find relief very soon.
Acupuncture helps. What about swimming? The weightlessness should help and give you some strength back. I'm sorry, pain sucks. I almost clawed out someone's eyes in the ambulance 2 weeks ago. I get it
I've done physio for my back with no help in pelvic pain. Since giving birth the pain has been horrendous. There aren't any indoor pools here, but in the summer I do enjoy it. Heat helps a bit, but not enough to make much of a dent.
I honestly don't have solutions. I had many years of pelvic pain from endo. (20? some years worse than others) Pregnancy and breast feeding has kept it at bay for awhile.
I never did get around to acupuncture but I did mean to try it. I do hear some people get relief from it.
I'm so sorry you have the chronic pain. It can be absolutely miserable and sucks to take narcotics
I did try yoga when I had some times with a little less pain. It's hard though because when the pain is a little less, it's like you feel like you need to run around doing everything in life that you feel like you normally can't get to as well.
The Thermacare wraps - or any heat - helps. I like the Thermacare because the heat lasts longer.
When I was dealing with pain from uterine fibroids, accupuncture was the only thing that would give me some relief and as things progressed the relief timeframe got shorter. But it was worth it for that little bit.
Yoga is helping me with pregnancy pains, but I couldn't keep it up when I had the fibroids. So not sure why you are in pain, but it may be worth it to try a slow class, I'd suggest flow, heated yoga might be even better because even if you have trouble moving the hot room is nice to rest in (we have a few older people who come in and just lay on their mats). My studio also offers yoga therapy which is more just stretching to help problem areas and I found that really helped my pregnancy pains as well.
nurse, what happened to your back/pelvis? is this from childbirth or was it made worse after having a baby?
I have endometriosis. Before having kids, it just manifested as back pain, and was easier to deal with. About 3 months after I was done breast feeding the twins, I started getting pelvic pain which was again been attributed to endometriosis. It keeps getting worse and worse. I'm assuming I have some adhesions that are causing things to get stuck together causing pain. I wouldn't wish this disease on anyone.
