LOL I will use my makeup until I literally can't anymore. I have some eye shadow where I dig and scrimp and try to get the last bits of it out. I buy all Clinique stuff because I have sensitive skin and it does well for me, but that crap gets expensive. H was shocked my eye liner costs $20 each (I like to keep three shades on hand). I do only have one shade of blush, though.
I have one Tarte blush. It's my only blush. Drugstore blushes don't show up on my skin very well, so these are a better use of my money. On the other hand, I use drugstore foundation and mascara. So it balances out.

oh yeah, this too. i alternate between tarte foundation and neutrogena drugstore foundation, ulta products, etc. so i'm definitely not going broke on makeup.
I'm recently discovering how nice it is to have good quality makeup. I'm starting to wear it at work every day, but pretty minimally so I expect it to last me a long time. I probably keep my makeup way longer than I should. I have a blush palette I bought at Sephora like 3 years ago ($50 for blush and bronzer). I don't use it often and it is pressed powder, so I'm pretending that isn't gross. I also usually buy the 1 color that works for me and that's it.
I don't wear makeup often. It took me 2 years to get through a travel sized pot of Bare Minerals powder - the all over face foundation type. Blush... gah. I have to throw away so much makeup b/c I'm worried about expiration/contamination. It's rare I see the bottom of a pan or pot.
ETA: I rarely spend big $ on makeup unless it's big event related. Drugstore/Ulta EVERYTHING.
Whenever I want something appalling expensive but don't want to pay for it, I just ask for it as a birthday gift.
I kid.
Sort of.
That's actually how I got a cashmere sweater dress.
ETA - Truth be told, I actually blow the money I get from working OT on frivolous stuff, because I feel that OT money is the equivalent of blood money.

Also, I buy $150 bras because I have to. I would love to be able to pick up a cute $9 bra from the clearance rack just because I can. But no. I have to special order gigundo bras from one of the two places in town that can even special order my size.
We live in a HCOL and I saw a family with 4 kids all dressed fancy for Easter and I thought "Wow, they must be ROLLING in the dough!" I didn't call the mom a bitch though.
Okay, but one $26 blush could last easily last me more than two years (of daily use - though I switch it up with other $26 blushes).
It's better than buying a few drugstore ones with poor pigment and then being disappointed that it doesn't show up on my (pale!)face, or wearing off by noon.
It's like $5-$10 a year to invest in a nice blush...
The blush that I'm currently using just hit pan and I've had it for a year now. Worth it to me!
I have no kids. I have thousands of dollars worth of makeup.
$26 blush is practically free
How do you decide what to wear every day?? I would feel so sad to neglect favorite products for days before I circled back around.
To say I'm not big into clothes is an understatement. I wear practically the same type of outfit everyday. No thought. Instead, I think about what makeup I'm going to wear
I sort of think the funniest part is that I can't tell if someone is wearing "good" makeup or drugstore makeup. I don't think anyone really can. If a $50 Urban Decay eyeshadow palette falls on a face, does it make a noise if nobody is there to see the name brand?
lol.
ETA: Like, I can see spending money on a good bra, because it obviously makes your tits amazing. or good clothes because they hang well and etc. But spending money on makeup is odd to me because it all sort of looks like Cover Girl.
It may all look the same, but that doesn't mean it works the same. Some drugstore makeup works just as well as the higher end brands, some doesn't. So while it may look the same, sometimes for skin reasons, staying power, wearability, etc it makes sense to pay a little more.
