I have regular sophie and the sophie teether. C loves them both equally, and Sophie usually is in the carseat with him. He latches on to her face and sucks, lol.
Henry doesn't seem to like any of his teething toys. He really just likes to nom on a washcloth dipped in ice water. The squeaker does confuse the dogs. Henry squeaks it and they run over and stare waiting for him to drop it so they can rip Sophie to shreds. Its kind of amusing.
Each kid has one. They liked her and I'm glad I had them, but we probably could have lived without them. DS1 (3.5) will still sometimes sleep with her, but he likes to sleep with all the things in his bed.
Oh yeah the squeak drives my dog bananas. We have to chill her out each time it is set off.
I resisted the urge to buy one with Jack. Leo was much more into chewing things so I was just for sure this toy would be the mecca of all toys. He barely touches the thing and I am out $18 lol.
I think it's overrated. DS wasn't interested in it at all and then by the time he actually started getting teeth, we had lost it. He found other, cheaper things to chew on.
We had the Sophie teether, not the taller toy like one. My DS loved it. We actually had to go buy another one because H left it at my parents once and DS couldn't live without it!
I like Sophie. We have the big squeaky one but started with just the little teether one.
They are indestructible. They go in the dishwasher (although that affects the squeak in the big one). They have been smashed, stomped, chomped, thrown, run over with other toys, doused with sippy cups, splashed with puree, and pelted with balls but are still like new. Big sophie is the only teether my baby will take anymore, for some reason.
You can sometimes get sophies on sale, or use a BBB coupon for them if the price is a deterrent.
We have 4 of them. Two still in their boxes. The boys will chew on them, but I dont think they have a clue thats its different from anyother random thing they chew on. They much prefer chewing on cloth, like my shirt or pants or towels.
Sophie has been around for decades. There is a whole slew of Sophia items you can buy, like a suitcase for when she travels. ha!
From what I've read I think it's a great shower gift - pricey for a parent to buy themselves, kids seem to love or not care about it. But if they love it then it's worth every penny.
We got the little one as a gift already. If she likes it when she's hear I'll invest in the bigger one. If not, well we didn't buy it
