I signed up for my second year of doing the Warrior Dash. I haven't run since the LAST Warrior Dash September 2012. I was looking at pictures of myself from our vacation a week ago and cringed at the sight of myself in a swimsuit. So begins another round of attempting to lose weight. I'd lost over 30 pounds last year and gained it all back over the winter (and then some). If we were friends on MFP, I'm back at it now. I'm glad I never deleted the app - I knew eventually I'd get around to having the desire and motivation to lose it again. Seeing oneself in a bathing suit after gaining a bunch of weight is pretty decent motivation. Anyone want to start C25K with me?
I won't be running C25K outside yet. There's still ice on the sidewalks, and I'm klutzy. I'll be running outside hopefully by mid-April when things are melted and warmer (I'm in MN). My SIL gave me her extra jogging stroller, so once it's decent I'll be able to take DD with me.
I use apps on my phone and have an armband to hold it in place. I like the Nike+ app, but I've also used Map My Run. I found Nike+ to be a little more user-friendly. Otherwise, I know there are some watches out there that can track things like distance.
As far as getting over looking like a fool, well...I just had to ignore the fact that I probably look really stupid running. I found after running for a few months, my form/posture improved. I know starting out, when everything was sore, I looked dumb, but when I was running 5 or 6 miles, my form was much better and I'm guessing I didn't look quite so weird! LOL
I found that c2k was easier inside at first when it was time/speed intervals and then outside when it was written out as miles/half miles. Runkeeper is a great site to map out routes to figure out distance
