Yes, mine had 3-4 (I think). He is a yorkie and they said it's just really common to have this happen (7 years old) in small breeds. I felt awful as well.
My friend's mini doxy has had a bunch of teeth removed. She's totally fine.
MY stupid dog has lost teeth, but not from the vet. She's lost both her top K9s during scuffles with the other female dog (who is a head-butter). It freaked me the FUCK out (she had a hole in her gums!) but it didn't appear to bother her in the least. I checked with the vet and he said as long as the hole wasn't bleeding or looking swollen/infected, she would be fine. He was right!
Our shih tzu/pomeranian mix had 4 or 5 teeth taken out last year (when he was about 8.5). I felt so bad for the little dude, but he recovered just fine. We spoiled him with wet food for a while out of guilt though.
My cat Sam had one of his wittle fangs removed. I kind of cried for a day or two imagining that he was in a lot of pain and I didn't know. But my vet was like ONWARDS AND UPWARDS HE'LL GET OVER IT SO YOU SHOULD TOO
sent from my I crashed my car into a bridge. I don't care. I love it.
Yes, both of my dogs have. My little guy (8 lbs) had a lot of teeth removed when he was 4ish. He really doesn't have that many left but it doesn't bother him. It's especially common to have teeth removed with small dogs, but it's common with all breeds and sizes. Don't feel bad!

::Chiming in::: Yes. Our dog has had a large molar pulled, and a a bunch of her lower teeth pulled... The molar also had a slab fracture in it with an infection..we didn't know either and also felt terrible...but what you don't know you don't know...if we had known we definitely would have gotten it taken care of--and you sound like you care about your dog and would have done the same.
I'm not sure what kind of dog you have..but I've heard from multiple vets that they are seeing small dogs with teeth problems--and it has to do with breeding. A lot of times small dogs will have the smaller JAW size with teeth that are the same size as LARGE dogs--and it causes a whole host of problems..things that no amount of brushing or food will help..it's really anatomy.
Is she a small dog? We get Lucy's teeth cleaned twice a year because it's common for small dogs to lose their teeth earlier than big dogs (although they live longer, so it's a trade off). We had to have one tooth extracted and one fell out on its own. She's only missing the two though, so I'm feeling like it's a success.
Not dog, but our cat has had almost all of her teeth removed. I think she has around 4 teeth left. Lucy recovered really quickly. She didn't seem to even need the pain meds the next day. The worst is giving the antibiotics for a week.
Our 6 year old shepherd mix just had one extracted, and the vet said it probably was our fault. Apparently we weren't suppose to let her chew on those hard cow bones (that they sell at pet stores). We learned our $800 lesson.
