When my cats were little one of them got into the cabinet under the kitchen sink and crawled behind the dishwasher. It took me forever to find her. Stupid kittens.

My cat used to try to do this. My brother told me he would freeze to death, and of course I believed him, so it always freaked me out. Your subject made me panicky, lol
This is why they say cats have 9 lives. Mine set himself on fire once.
This requires a back story - did you let your cat play with matches or something?
Ha.
No, he was just a dumbass fat cat and was walking along the countertop where I had a candled burning. Instead of going around it, he walked over it. I watched the whole thing happen and couldn't react fast enough to get up to stop him. His fur caught fire and the flames went up his side. I started screaming like a madwoman and chased him into the kitchen to see if he was ok. He just sat there looking at me like, "what are you yelling for, crazy woman" and I don't think he ever had a clue what happened.

Aw, poor kitty!
I cat-sit for my mom once and I accidentally locked the cat in the closet while I was at work. He must have sneaked in when I got my coat in the morning. I felt so bad!

Learning experience!
My aunt's kitten spent an entire night between the screen door and the door-door of their house. Sitting on top the little door closer mechanism that keeps the screen from slamming. She hopped up there right as the door was shutting and no one saw her.

I've had cats get trapped in my linen closet and dresser drawers before. I think the longest one has been trapped for is about 10 hours. I'm pretty sure cats just curl up and go to sleep when they get stuck in a dark place.
My godmother accidently closed her kitten in a plastic box once and found him a couple of hours later, thankfully alive. She was sorting clothes and putting them away for the winter. She finished piling her bins in her closet and went on about her day. At some point they all started wondering where the kitten was and my godmother had an OMG moment, ran to her room, opened all the boxes throwing the content everywhere until she finally found the poor little thing, that was covered in sweat and piss. She said she cried so much, she cried the whole time she was giving the kitty a bath.
Since hearing that story I have learned to check for cats before closing any kind of bin or box.
My cat gets himself stuck in places so often - pantry, closets, cabinets. When I can't find him I ask the dog, "where's Biggie?" And he tears around the house til he finds him. Works every time!
When we had a cat a long time ago, it climbed up into our organ on the first day we brought it home. We looked forever for that sucker and finally found him.

Oh no! Poor stupid kitty!
My parents had a cat who jumped into the dryer and my dad didn't see and proceeded to turn the dryer on. A few seconds later he hears the cat meowing and immediately pulled him out. The cat was fine and lived to be 17 years old.
They also had a cat who walked by a lit candle and lit his tail on fire. He swished his tail and it went out, didn't affect him at all.
Glad kitty is ok and you'll be able to laugh about your silly kitty!
Our cat some how got closed in between our main door and our screen door, the screen was out and glass in its place since it was cooler weather. She's quite chubby so she was a little smooshed.
Poor kitty, I'm glad she's okay. My cat got his head stuck in a plastic bag and ran away under the bed where I couldn't help him. He was so upset. They really have no sense of self-preservation but luckily nine lives.
One of our cats was hiding in the shower once. Without looking, H turned it on. As soon as the water hit him, he went crazy, jumping all over the place and hitting the sides of the shower. When H opened the shower door, he came bolting out, soaking wet, and I had to chase him all the way downstairs with a towel to dry him off. He sat in my lap and shook for a while. I think he was half pissed and half terrified. He still loves hiding in the shower though, go figure.
