I totally agree with you, while $600 isn't bad for a good chair why do you need a "good" chair for an office side chair? Unless it is going to be sat in for hours and hours you can go budget. For what it is worth I am looking at expensive chairs for my living room and in a nook in our kitchen I put in a chair and ottoman from ikea (and it doesn't look ikea-y) that I paid $300 for.
Have you guys made a list of priorities for where the money's going? I don't disagree that $600 is a good price, but, yeah...for an armchair for the office? How often is that really going to be used? I can totally understand why you're vetoing it if there are other, a lot more necessary things to get.
We bought a house last April, and while I wouldn't consider it a "fixer-upper" there were/are definitely some things that NEEDED to be done, and things that we both wanted to be done. So far we've done a good job balancing needs vs. wants, but it hasn't always been easy. If you haven't already, I suggest making a list of all the things you want to buy / improvements you want to make, and then try prioritizing them.
Ooh, thanks! I'll check Ikea. If I'm going to nix his idea I'll have to have a couple of alternatives...
This could be totally not your style but this is the chair I have. It is really comfortable and people seem surprised when I tell them it is from ikea (they could just be being nice haha).

If you're not going to sit in the chair, then why buy it at all? Perhaps it's my minimalism streak but if you're not going to use it often, I wouldn't want to spend $60 on it, not to mention $600. I'm definitely with you on this one.
I am about to get really annoying do you know if your husbands pick comes in leather? It is similar in shape/style to what I am looking for in my living room lol. I am a little scared the nail heads are trendy but I really like them.
Also, I am a bitch but I would be a little ticked if my DH had an opinion (other than the opinions I "let him have") about our decorating. Now just to make myself sound less psycho my house would be covered in taped up sports posters and the windows covered in tacked up sheets if DH decorated.
Nope, it doesn't come in leather. That's the only material/color they have. But I think there were some other leather chairs in the sale. It's from MyHabit which is Amazon's version of Gilt - a daily email/website with high-end stuff for less. You can sign in with your Amazon password if you want to check out the whole sale.
And our decorating was actually about 60% him and 40% me. He is much more opinionated than I am. He actually gets annoyed when I have an opinion about his decorating picks.
....but this one does! Well, bonded leather. But it's $258.
You are good at this. Will you be my personal shopper? I am looking for something in brown and a little more distressed. I have been looking at a $2k crate and barrel chair that DH has vetoed so I could probably convince him that many things are a good deal lol.
I second HomeGoods. The ones around here have similar styles to that a lot. I was just in there yesterday with DH and they had 2 nice style Lane recliners for $300 a piece which is a steal. Had they been the right colors I would have snatched them up for our living room (we're also in the process of decorating a new place.)
