I can see! I had my lasik procedure on Tuesday and holy mother of pearl what a wonderful thing. I've been blind since I was 10 and it is so weird to push my index finger to my forehead trying to push my glasses back up and walking into the bathroom at night trying to take out my contacts.
Awesome, I'm so happy for you! I'm seriously considering getting it done soon.
How easy was the procedure? I worry that I wouldn't be able to keep my eyes still for long enough and they'd laser the wrong bits.
They actually numb your eyes and then hold the lids open with this little contraption (or at least they did when I had it done). You aren't responsible for holding your eyes open.

That's good to know, but how do they keep your eyeballs from looking around? That's more what I'd be worried about. Or do they have a contraption for that too?
From what I remember (I was doped up on calm pills), they hold you eyes open with the contraption, and then they tell you to stare at something. The entire procedure on one eye only takes like a minute, so it's not too hard to keep concentrating. Also you are pretty out of it from the pills and (at least I) didn't really feel like looking around. I did have lasik 6 years ago though, so I could be remembering wrong or things could have changed since then.

If you look around the laser stops. They kept yelling at me to look into the light because I was nervous and looking around, but I was able to focus enough times to get it done.
