We are working on potty training the twins. Our son, E is doing okay, and has grasped the concept of holding his penis down while he sits on the toilet to pee. Great, fine.
Well our daughter, M, is convinced that she can't go pee on the toilet because "I don't have a penis, mom". She keeps looking down there to "hold something down", but obviously there is nothing there to hold down, since, you know, she has a vagina.
We've tried explaining this to her, and she still thinks that because she doesn't have a penis like E, she can't possibly go pee on the toilet.
I've showed her how I go - made her stand in the bathroom and watch me. We've also tried explaining to her that her parts that make her go pee are on the inside, but she still refuses.
She does have a penis to pee, it's just called a urethra and it's shorter than a boys. I suppose she can push is down, it's just short enough to point down on it's own. Sometimes, if my DD leaned back too much and didn't squeeze her legs together, she'd pea all over. She thought it was hilarious.
