I use TravelGuard and have had no problems with them. The one time I had to make a claim it was an easy process and I got my check in three weeks from claim submission. I would not hesitate to recommend them.
A word of caution: I have always used Travel Guard for my trips. Called them one time during a domestic trip to assist with a trip delay (Delta cancelled one leg of our flight, grr). Easy as pie.
Used them for our trip to Peru last month. A strike happened and we couldn't get from one city to another via bus. Tried to call Travel Guard to re-route us. MANY issues. 1) International operators (we tried 5 times) said Travel Guard's collect number would not accept collect calls. 2) Once we finally got a hold of them, they were next to useless. Didn't know anything about the country, apparently couldn't use Google to help them either. We ended up borrowing our hotel owner's laptop and basically doing it all ourselves.
We're about to file our claim to get money for our trip interruption (cancelled buses, bus rides we didn't need to take, etc). Representative we spoke with on the phone to get the form was rude and told us she thought we wouldn't get anything back.
We're using my mom (travel agent) who booked the insurance for us to help deal with them.
My advice: Look for a company who has experience with whatever country you're going to. You want them to be able to figure out how to re-route you or (heaven forbid) medevac you on their own.

We used TravelEx when we had to change things due to a coup/police strike in Ecuador. Had no problems. (we've used them for other trips, that is the only one I had to contact the company) I like the search on squaremouth.com better than Insuremytrip.com
