Just curious. DS is 12 months but he is always so snuggly with pillows in the living room, etc. We have definitely not put one in his crib. But it made me think - when is the appropriate time to introduce one? When did you introduce one?
For Christmas right before he turned one he got a pillow pet. He started laying on it everywhere. I put it in his bed about 12 months, switched around 15 months to a travel pillow because I felt the pillow pet was too warm for summer. He loves pillows, cushions, piled up blankets, dog beds, anything soft and cushy.
DD was about 15 months. She moved all over her crib when she slept, but as soon as we gave her the pillow and a small, light blanket she started sleeping in one place.
When I found him one morning and he'd wadded up his lovey blanket as a makeshift pillow in his crib. It was so pathetic looking...
Anyway, we gave him a pillow at that point, so probably 16 mos. old?
Yeah, DS is starting to do this too! I might try a small toddler pillow that we have for a closely supervised nap and see how it goes.
That's essentially what we did: a toddler size pillow. He would really nestle into it when he got into bed and adapted easily. At 2, he hefted a regular size pillow up to his bed and graduated himself from the toddler version(!) I can't believe that's really more comfortable (he was still so little!) but apparently it was, lol? Anyway, we've just followed his lead, apparently.
