Puzzle feeding toys for dogs

I've gotten in the routine of feeding our dogs twice a day out of the Kong Wobbler. They each take a different carpeted room and it takes them a few minutes to finish eating. We wouldn't allow the kiddo on the floor while they are eating, but I'm wondering about the safety of having their food get scattered across carpet. I wouldn't really be able to disinfect the carpet twice a day and I'm a little concerned about the risk of food borne illness, especially given the recent recalls. What are your thoughts about this? Not a big deal or should we probably switch to using regular bowls?
