Anchorage - Reindeer dog from a street vendor Simon & Seaforts Club Paris Crush Humpy's Snow Goose - sit on the roof deck - great view of the water Glacier Brew House Mooses Tooth/Bears Tooth
Denali - Not much out there - the hotels restaurants are good
Palmer - Good luck!Fast food and chain restaurants
Homer - Salty Dog Saloon
Girdwood - Dinner at Double Musky. They don't take reservations. Lines start forming before they open.
Anchorage - I agree that you have to get reindeer from the street vendor. I think it's diagonally across the intersection from the Visitor's center. Moose's tooth is awesome pizza. Very busy, though.
Denali - Pretty much only the overpriced hotels. I didn't think they were worth the money. We stayed in Healy and ate at Rose's Cafe, which was decent and cheaper than the hotels in Denali.
Palmer - I agree with PP, there's really not much to Palmer. But visiting the musk ox farm was awesome. I didn't mind eating at Subway on our way through.
Homer - we weren't there long and ate breakfast at Two Sisters cafe. I think they do a deli style lunch there, too. Fish was good at Boardwalk Fish & chips.
Didn't go to Girdwood, but if you like the reindeer sausage in Anchorage, you can buy it (and fish) from Indian Valley Meats which is on the way to Girdwood. We had gone fishing in Seward and were bringing home frozen fish, so we added in sausage and smoked salmon from Indian Valley. (Anchorage airport has freezers where you can store stuff for a daily fee - that plus baggage fee was cheaper than shipping it all home).
Thanks, AmyRI. We are staying in Healy so that is helpful. I didn't know about Indian Valley Meats. That will be a great place to stop for some meat.
Are you staying at Earthsong? We stayed there and enjoyed it. We spent too much time in Denali, so we didn't get to see the sledding dogs. They also run a little restaurant, but when we were there they had run out of dinner food so we only ate breakfast. They have to drive into Fairbanks to get their food at decent prices and we just so happened to get there when they were in Fairbanks shopping.

LOL I can't imagine living that far from a grocery store. We're actually staying at Denali Lakeview.
There's really not much to eat in Denali and it's all overpriced. In addition to the other recommendations, the Land's End restaurant in Homer is nice. Expensive, but very nicely located at the end of the "Spit" with amazing views and good food.
