Raves: Neutrogena Clarifying shampoo (in the short bottle, clear formula). Has a weird smell but I love it. Also the best clarifying shampoo I have used since it's not overly drying. It's also like $3.99 so that's nice.
Thermos Thermax travel mugs. My coffee is still warm on the counter from this morning. And I got the free in a rebate at a store grand opening here.
When I was Menard's buying random sh*t the other night they had 6 packs of socks in fun patterns (stripes, stars, leopard etc). I grabbed some because I always need barn socks (my boots leave them permanently stained) but I've been wearing them around the house and even running in them. They're great and the patterns are happiness for $2.99.
Rants:
Gilligan and OMalley pj pants. I bought a black yoga looking pair last week. They split in the seam down the side after the first wash. They're modal so it's not stitching back together all that well either. I was sad, I usually love that brand so I'm assuming it's a fluke.
Racheal Ray splatter bowls. My sister got me one for Christmas and Rubes cracked it 100 little pieces the other day, just playing pretend cooking with it (She wasn't even beating on it). WTH? I didn't know melamine shattered like that.

RAVE: I bought a bottle of (OMG expensive) Farmhouse Fabric Softener (http://www.farmhousewares.com/farmhousefabricsoftenerbysweetgrassfarm.aspx) last month in Lemon Verbena. It's REALLY awesome smelling - not cloying and chemical like regular softener.
Also, this isn't really related to a product as such, but with the new house, I've switched back to powdered dishwasher detergent and what a difference! I cannot ever use the liquid stuff again. Terrible.
RANT: Sherwin Williams paint chips versus sample pots. OMG. I love their paint, but seriously? Their chips are like 1" x 2" total (and no bigger chips are available) and their sample pots are $6 and a whole freaking QUART. Really? My choice is a 1x2 rectangle or enough to paint an entire freaking wall? What about something in between?? Grrrrr.
I love the Neutrogena clarifying stuff too, @justdairy. I use it about once a week or every week and a half.
I am really sad that the Method glass cleaner isn't very good and it smells bad. So I'm in the market for a glass cleaner that isn't Windex and works.
Yeah, I had the method stuff and it does suck. Have you tried the pinterest recipe that's like 1/2 cup alcohol, 2 tbsp. dishsoap and fill the rest with water? It works really good but the smell is very alcohol-y obviously. Others I got some E-cloths in my stocking and they work AWESOME on glass. The bad part is I have to wipe twice with those, but it's not bad..I'm just a slacker.

Out of ALL THE PINS I HAVE PINNED, I haven't seen that one. But of course, I am super busy with everything in life and making my own glass cleaner is just.. a hassle. I'd honestly rather not clean the mirror instead. It's just going to get splattered with toothpaste the next time Monkey brushes anyways.
(I have a bad case of the fuck-it-alls and I can't really make myself give a crap about much of anything. At this time of year, it's a bad sign.)
Rave: Downey Unstoppables - they make my laundry smell amazing! Earth Mama Angel Baby Body Butter - it's keeping my dry and itchy belly from driving me completely nuts!
Rant: Lululemon. I bought a pair of studio crops last week so I could wear them to work now and this summer after my lo gets here. They were delivered Saturday. I ripped the tags off yesterday morning, and they already have a snag in them. Lululemon is taking them back, but charging me $5 in return shipping for their crappy product.

Rant: DS climbed on the arm of our sofa today, which he does all the time, and we tell him no all the time. And the fabric ripped. I don't know if a sofa should be expected to withstand that, but I would have thought so. I guess not
Raves: My new hutch, solid maple, built in the 60's (we think), 185$. Woot!
These awesome new J-41 shoes that I got at costco for 35$. They retail around 80$. Score!
Rave: I love the Affina face wash from Melaleuca! It has made my breakouts disappear completely in less than a week. It smells great, and it keeps my face really moisturized, but not oily. Love it!
Rant: Never buy Hampton Bay Enderbury Hickory laminate flooring! I vented about all of our flooring problems last week. The tongues and grooves fall apart, and it's crazy hard to instal because of this. We're still waiting to get our replacement flooring installed!
@justdairy - I love that Neutrogena shampoo! mrs.jacinthe - that same thing drives me NUTS about SW. I always get their colors matched into the little Behr pots.
Raves: Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer. I've only used it two times since I got it, but I already feel like I have a little more color. This isn't really a product, but mixing Dawn and vinegar together to clean my bathtub is the best thing I've ever done. Makes the task SO much easier. And much less smelly.
Rants: Melissa and Doug puzzles with sound. One of them is farm animals and it makes the noise when you put the piece in. It senses this through a light sensor I guess, because the other night I turned off the den light to go to bed and heard a cow moo. I flipped out. It took me a good 30 minutes to settle down after that.

Rant cover girl bb cream I hate the way my face feels after I put it on and it doesn't cover a thing at all I know it's supposed to be light I can't think of a rave
Goldwell Dual Senses Color Conserve Shampoo and Conditioner. It keeps my color true and doesn't build up at all.
CG Clump Crusher Mascara is a pretty decent dupe for Benefit's They're Real. Not much in the way of volume, but a clean and subtle finish for a natural look.
Tastykake Swirlies are so much better than the Hostess cupcakes they are meant to replace. No powdery mouthfeel to the crumb or paraffin to the icing.
Biz in liquid form. I stained a cardie a few weeks back and had no luck getting the stain out with Zout or Fels Naptha- 12 hours in Biz and it is gone even after 2 whole weeks in the laundry basket.
Rant: John Frieda shampoo and conditioner. I bought it a few years ago and didn't like it, and a few weeks ago it was on sale so I grabbed a silver one - either the anti frizz one or a hydrating one i forget.
It sucks. My hair was not detangled at all, it was like a rats nest. I had to use so much and condition my hair twice every shower to be able to get a comb through.
I just found Dove conditioner in a huge bottle at Costco for 8.99 and so far I like it. Not amazing, but a super great price. So nice to have conditioner that works again.
And for a rave, I love the Mrs. Meyers lemon verbena scented all purpose cleaner. I bought it at Target when I visited the USA this summer and it's less than half gone. A little goes a long way, I make up an all purpose spray and I fill my mop with it too. My whole house smells like lemon after I mop, but not in a fake chemically way - like fresh lemon. LOVE IT. I had a housecleaner while I was pregnant and she really liked it too - I hope Target in Canada carries this brand because I'd love to try some other scents and more products.

This is good to know. I love Benefit They're Real for a day to day casual look but the $20.00 price tag makes me cringe a bit.

We have the same puzzle and there is always some animal making a noise when I turn the lights off. Kinda funny after you get over the WTH phase.
I have the same puzzles in my daycare! The musical instrument one was in my "toy" closet, and fell. During the night randomly it kept going off and I would wake up to the sound of a xylophone playing old macdonald had a farm.

It is good, but doesn't come in waterproof which sucks. I need waterproof. I tried it because it is water resistant, but still went goth with it. Boo boo.
- Organic cold pressed coconut oil - I love all the uses for it, and it has so many health benefits - and the price is pretty cheap.
- I bought this from Amazon while I was healing from my ankle fracture and love love love it - my skin has never looked better, and it is so much cheaper than a Clarsonic!
- Homemade beer is so much better than store bought, I bought my hubby a real beer making kit (not that Mr Beer crapkit) and in the last year we have made so many great brews and spent no money on store bought beer. It has paid for itself and the quality is so much better than I thought it was going to be. And I am not a big beer drinker!
Rant: My hair in general - it always seems frizzy and no matter what I try it just seems to get worse and worse. HELP I tried Living Proof not too long ago, despite the ridiculous price tag, and it was a no go. I have used the above mentioned coconut oil as a deep conditioner. It definitely makes my hair softer, but it is still looking like crap!
We have those puzzles. I can hear them going off at 2am sometimes from our room. It's hilarious!
Peach: I actually John Freida in a pinch as long as I rotate it with another brand. I pretty have to do that with all drugstore shampoo though. Suave Pro is probably my favorite actually. I have bought the DOVE and do like it, but be careful, by the time I get to the end, my hair is like full of wax. As long as I clarify it's okay. I actually got a good deal on Biolage and stocked up the other day. I go in spurts where I'm good with the drugstore stuff, but it always makes my hair weird in the end. I'm over it for awhile.
I love that Mrs. Meyer's kind. The Honeysuckle is good too. Lavender is gross.
DavesCatch: We go through a ton of coconut oil. Rubes has some mild exczema issues and it really helps. That and she's obsessed with putting lotion on, so if she eats it whatever.

tarheels - I truly believe it's because I haven't been eating well or exercising (and I am in the throes of lovely menopause)....but my hair is just dry and frizzy looking! I should take a picture of my hair today and post it but ohmygod it looks really bad
You know, my hair gets frizzier when I use moisturizing shampoo. I don't know what that's about, but it's a noticeable fact for me. I use the L'Oreal Ever Smooth in the winter and Sleek in the summer (Sleek is like an amped up Smooth). You might see if you could find a travel size of either formula.
I'll just join in on the puzzle rant. We have the same one peach does and it plays Old MacDonald every time I flip off the light in the playroom. Putting it into one of the M&D puzzle stackers near the bottom has helped.
Post by emoflamingo on Apr 11, 2013 10:52:51 GMT -5
We had the color one of those M&D puzzles and it would do the same thing. We even lost a piece. I tossed it eventually but we would just put it at the bottom of the puzzle stack.
I usually love M&D stuff but that puzzle was hell.
