so i called my doctor yesterday to ask her to put in a request to have my ultrasounds done with a specialist. she didn't call back but her nurse called back today. i also asked her nurse if she could ask her how many calories i should be eating pregnant with twins, because most things i'm reading suggest well over 2k. even for me weighing 200+ when i got pregnant.
my doctor wants me to come in, on her, i won't be charged, to talk about how horrible my last appointment with that other doctor is and make sure i'm feeling ok. i thought it was really nice, and our appointment is for next week. i told my boss that i needed to leave early, the one who kept pushing me to see that other doctor, and she said, you know sarack, i just don't understand why he would tell you to only eat 1200 calories when pregnant with twins if he didn't know what he is talking about. i just don't know why you're questioning him.
so i say back, he's an ob/gyn, not a expert on multiples and diet.. and also, for as many people as i ask, i'll get a different opinion on what is right, so i'd like to talk to my doctor to see what she thinks.
anyway, i've been reading Dr. Barbara Luke's book you're expecting twins, multiples, or quads, and while the suggestions in there are outrageous, i think they are a little better than starving myself with only 1200, 1300cals max.
so i'm going to bring the book in and talk to her about it.
Good! I'm glad you are getting better treatment. I'm surprised that you are not seeing MFM for your ultrasound (i know you want to, what i mean is, i'm surprised that's not automatic).
Being overweight, pregnant with one baby and moderately active (not terribly active overall, but i do exercise regularly), i'm supposed to aim for 1500-1600 cal/day and we are at the same point in pregnancy. I'm gaining slowly with that, too (right within the guidelines for my starting weight).

After realizing that everyone else I know sees an MFM for any scans or ultrasounds, I was upset. Now my doctor is referring me.

Yup. Even with my totally low-risk pregnancy, i'm seeing and MFM. Was the u/s you had last week your a/s? If not, when will it be? I just scheduled mine today... still a month away (at 20w1d).
