Ok, I feel bad for 50% of them (that they were mocked on this site) and really respect that they're just being honest online and not trying to misrepresent themselves. Some of the others, all I can do is shake my head.

I showed my H the lovely selection of match.com people that were available in the town where I grew up and he saw exactly why I left NEPA for good. The number of mullets and missing teeth was amazing to me.
Hehe, this really cracked me up. Great stuff for a sick day. Honestly though, I have nothing against internet dating. It's a great option for some people. There are a lot of weirdos to sift through but there also a lot of weirdos and jerks at bars or just out and about. I hope that some of the guys who are just lonely and socially awkward find what they are looking for. Some of the others ... er, no, just no.
I am a dumbass, but are those quotes what the guys said for real?
I keep trying to get my best friend to join one and she refuses. I get her point now. I did match a long time ago and while there were weirdos (and I have stories, like a guy that stole my shoes on a date and another one who didn't clean his cats litter boxes in 3 weeks) these seem over the top!
I actually think #5 is kind of funny. As long as he's being subtly ironic.
When I had my okcupid profile up, I jokingly put a comment in about my preference in text editors (possibly the first big flame debate topic, and really only known to older computer programmers). In my "You should contact me if" section, I added (among other things) "If you really want to weigh in on the text editor debate." A lot of people (fellow geeks) thought it was amusing, and it made for an easy icebreaker, so quite a few of my messages started out with that subject! And I got a few that said things like, "We don't seem to have a lot in common, but the text editor thing gave me a good laugh!"

I actually also have nothing against it. After my divorce and a subsequent lousy relationship that left me feeling like crap about myself, I did it for a while and it actually made me feel MUCH better about myself. Not only because I realised there were people far more desperate than I, but also because I realised I could do so much better than my previous experiences. Also, the lunatics make for phenomenal conversation topics.
Although, I did not meet anyone significantly serious using a website. Not to say it couldn't happen, but didn't in my case.

Haha! You should be proud. I went to a workshop at Norwegian Developer's Conference titled "vim for aspiring #ithipsters" I'm not sold yet, but I now know more than :q!
One thing I don't understand... The HJKL navigation is designed so you don't have to leave home row to access the arrow keys, but you have to use Esc all the time, and it's way out there! I even talked with a vi aficionado later who hooked a pedal up to his machine for the Esc key!
