This is the first cycle that I'll try clomid and gonal-F. I've read in Taking Charge of Your Fertility that clomid has the side effect of drying up EWCM. The book recommends taking 500 mg of vitamin B6 supplement daily throughout the cycle to help with that, and maybe mucinex too. I googled B6 and came across several articles that said don't take more than 100 mg daily. So I don't know what to think now. I did show the book to my nurse and asked her about it, and she was dismissive of the book itself, but said that B6 is good to take in any case. Have you taken it? Thanks!

Hi Dana, if you are doing gonal F also, will you be doing an IUI? In that case then your EWCM doesn't matter because IUI bypasses the cervix and puts the sperm right in there.

This is so weird, but I have had a ton more EWCM than normal the last two cycles, like shockingly more. I started a B Complex vitamin two months ago and until reading this post I did not put two and two together. Correlation does not equal causation of course, but I would say for me, there is a big difference.
Iced, no, I'm not doing IUI, just timed intercourse. My doctor recommended this course of action b/c my insurance covers TI but not IUI, and given that the success rate for IUI is not that much greater than TI, he thought we should start on TI first.
I haven't heard of this, but I'll definitely add it to the list of a million pills to take.
Clomid dried my EWCM up almost completely. It's terrible. I've been drinking a lot of green tea from CD 1 until ovulation. I'm not sure if it's helping, but I love green tea, so there's no harm in it. I will definitely try the B vitamin though. Thanks!
For the dosage, did you talk to your RE? I've gotten much better responses from my RE than I have from my primary care or OB/GYN. Is vitamin B an overdose concern? Many vitamins are just peed out in excess, but not necessarily a risk to your health.

Jewel, the nurse said that B6 is water-soluable, so that what the body does not absorb/need will just be urinated out. She was not concerned about the 500 mg dosage. I may check with my pharmacist just to be sure.

If that's the case, I'd definitely go with the 500mg (especially if the pharm confirms it's safe). I'd also probably split it in 2-3 doses throughout the day, to help with absorption.
I used to take B6 and it did help with my LP but I never noticed any extra ewcm. I quit taking it, but perhaps I'll start again. I have half the bottle left, but since my dr didn't tell me to take it, I was attempting to slim down the number of pills I was swallowing each day.

Disco, what brand are you taking?
Sundown Naturals B Complex. It was BOGO at the grocery. It could be a complete fluke but I've really had an increase. Good luck!
