Poor pup had to have one of her big molars extracted today because it was cracked. I just picked her up a bit ago and gave her her first dose of pain medication, but she keeps pacing and crying. Is there anything else I can for her? I feel awful. She looks like she got punched in the face.

Aw, poor sweetie! The vet might be able to prescribe a sedative (i.e. Acepromazine). Be careful though...look up its effects on certain types of herding dogs. I have a herder (Australian Kelpie) and he does fine on it, but some herding breeds may not.
I've had a number of greyhound fosters who have had a tremendous number of teeth pulled (one lost 2, my own grey lost 2, one lost 17, and another lost 21), and they were much better the next day. The first day was always the worst. However, they didn't pace or whine...they just laid around sadly. If she gets increasingly agitated, it might be e-vet time.

I think sometimes coming off the anesthesia makes them cry too. Our guy has been put under 3 or 4 times now, and he is usually whiny and cries for no reason afterwards. Hope your girl feels better today!
