I posted this on the Harry Potter Board too, because it seems like the Book Club is all over the place since the format change.
I started reading Gullivers Travels for the SBC and was so excited to finally read it. My HS English class read it, but since I transferred to the school when the class was almost finished with it I did not have to read it. I was a bit bummed because it seemed like a book I would have enjoyed. It has been on my to read list ever since.
So now over 15 years later I am finally getting to it and I am disappointed. I started reading it on my kindle and had a hard time getting into it, so I switched to audiobook. I did find it easier to get into on audiobook, which is usually not the case, but I still am not loving it.
I think maybe it is the writing style and tone. The story is interesting and could be exciting, but the way it is written seems flat and matter of fact. More like a history book than a work of fiction. Anyone else feel this way?
