Status: I finished Clomid 50mg Round #3 this cycle, and had the ultrasound and trigger shot last Monday. The IUI was last Tuesday. I had 4 follies (1 24, 1 22, and 2 inmature ones). So...I'm ~ 8 DPO.
My questions is whether this is typical?
The IUI was uncomfortable (typical, from my research) but not bad.
After the IUI, I experienced some light spotting and cramping (expected, per the Dr.) for 2 days. 3-4 DPO, I had relatively substantial cramps. Since the IUI, I have had the feeling that my organs in my abdomen are "out of place." I know that ovaries swell sometimes after Clomid (and I've experienced ovulatory pain with Clomid as well) but I continue to feel like organs are out of place - like they're either larger than normal or out of place. I have occasional twinges around the lower sides and belly button of "ouch, that hurts!" but it's mostly a feeling of stuff being out of place vs. pain. Does that make any sense? It's better than it was last week, but still present.
Is this normal post IUI?
Health-wise, I feel average. I've been sneezing a lot (allergies?), and I'm having an attack of my reflux due to an ill-advised beer (ok, beers, being honest) over the weekend. I love beer and have had to give it up due to recently diagnosed (late 2012) silent reflux. Fear not, I've switched to wine. If I have to give that up, I'll probably do crack. :-)
This is my second IUI. On both cycles I experienced mild cramps the whole 2WW. I also was nauseated 11-13 dpiui but I never got a BFP so I wonder if the nausea was psychosomatic. I also have the urge to urinate all the time. I think this psychosomatic as well.
ETA: I'm still in the 2WW for my second IUI and haven't experienced the nausea yet. But I'm sure I'll feel sick tomorrow since I talked about it tonight.
I'm on round 2 of IUI plus clomid. My first round was 50mg and second was 100mg.
I didn't feel much of anything on the first round, but definitely felt full and crampy this round. It was really bad from Clomid start date to ovulation, and gradually decreased. I think that any unusual feelings are more likely related to the clomid, normal cycle cramping, or just seem different because you are particularly aware of every little thing. Clomid also gave me the worst constipation, so that's probably not helping the belly pain (lol, sorry). The IUI alone shouldn't really change much of anything.
In short, I'd say - probably very normal.
And, wine > crack. But if you have to give it up, switch to special brownies.....lol, kidding. Sort of.
I'm having my first IUI next month. Can you tell me more about it?
I think these side affects are common for clomid though. Everyone has different ones and sometimes they get stronger, esp when you know you O'd. I never had cramping but felt bloated a lot. And my boobs were soooooo sore after I O'd. That was the worse pain. I also had really bad hot flashes so I would just keep up hope that maybe this one worked!

I never had any cramps or anything after my 3 iuis. I wasn't on clomid though (Femara and gonal F). The gonal F cycle I was sure I was pg because of sore boobs but I wasn't. I think typical AF/O symptoms might be maginifed by the meds and also the HCG trigger shot.
I have my IUI in a few hours, so ill answer back in a day or so if you want and tell you how I'm feeling
But I'm on femara/trigger shot. I had minimal side effects with femara. Mini hot flashes were my worst symptoms. Since finishing it I've had some constipation which is out of the ordinary for me. I can only assume it related to this. Since getting my trigger shot yesterday, I have been really nauseous. But so far that's it...

The IUI process alone is incredibly easy. Husband collects, and I take it to the clinic an hour later. It takes an hour to prepare the sperm. I usually leave and get coffee while they do this. Then I go back, they insert a HEATED speculum (so fancy, lol), insert a super tiny tube with the sperm, and inject. I stay there 15 minutes, and then I'm on my way. It's actually much quicker and more comfortable than a Pap smear.
Mentally, it has really helped me too. It takes a lot of the pressure off of TTC sex. We still do the best we can, but I don't worry about it, because I know the best chance will be whatever is given at the IUI.
I posted and ran, and have been swamped the last couple of days, so I haven't been back! I'm sorry!!
I just wanted to say thanks for sharing all of your experiences --- I feel more "normal" right now. I'm the first of my friends to have fertility issues (great ribbon to have, huh?) so no one has a clue about IUI stuff!
