DH's aunt and cousin (plus his cousins 4 and 2 year old kids) is coming to Disney and we're going to go out to meet them for dinner on Saturday night. I've heard Downtown Disney is a madhouse on weekend evenings, and I'm not overly familiar with the resort hotels? Any recommendations that won't be crazy and kid-friendly?

I second T-Rex. We didn't have reservations but went early in the evening and only had a 20 minute wait. It was much better than Rainforest Cafe IMO. The Disney restaurants typically fill up really quick whether you eat at the resorts or at Downtown Disney.
Portobello Yacht Club is a GREAT restaurant in Downtown Disney. It's one of my all time favorite places to eat. I haven't eaten there in years but they had a dish called Primavera Farfalle that was to die for.
It's not too formal of a place. I use to regularly eat there in High School with my friends and I never felt out of place. I would imagine that you wouldn't feel out place place with a baby. That and it's Downtown Disney.......no matter where you go, there are kids, LOL
Its a good bet that the resorts are going to be pretty slammed on a Saturday night. Although this isn't the busiest time of year there. Anyway, I'd stick to Downtown too, plus there could be some fun entertainment. Get there early. Here's a link to all the restaurants.
