Or in my case, lack of the above!! I am a terrible housekeeper and I am dreading when Ethan becomes mobile as I am going to need to step up my game. We have a golden retriever who sheds everywhere. UGH! I wish I was motivated to stay on top of cleaning the house.
I will contribute that I have a Dyson Animal which we bought back when we still had carpet in the house. I loved it with the carpet, but don't think it does a great job on the wood and tile floors. So we have the Dyson as well as a Swiffer sweeper and another small handheld vac my mom bought for me right after Ethan was born. I think that the Swiffer Sweeper probably does the best job because it sucks up hair and also collects the dust on the swiffer thing. However it isn't the best because the battery doesn't last long enough to do the whole house and it only holds so much before you need to empty it. I have serious dog hair to pick up, so the canister gets full fast!
I had central vac put in when we built the house and I love it - but that isn't something you just put in to an existing house We do have a bissell little green machine for pet accidents, but it's started to smell amomonia-y lately, even though we regularly empty and flush it. I'm looking for a new steam mop. Honestly, I'd like for the dog to stop having accidents all together and then we will replace the floor (E and I decided no new flooring until we see a consistent lack of accidents and with the baby and company, that hasn't been the case).
I'm terrible about mopping as often as I should, because my tile really hides dirt. That said, once Shane is more mobile I'll be busting out the steam mop I have.
I've attempted homemade "natural" cleaners and they've pretty much sucked. I love the Clorox green something (I forget what it's called and I just got baby to fall asleep so I'm not getting up to look). It works awesome on our granite and stainless.
I'm really trying to get into a better cleaning routine, because I don't love the idea of baby and dog hair hanging out together - and while blocking the stairs and taking Shane upstairs for playing has worked, sometimes I'd like to just do it downstairs
Ugh. Cleaning. The bane of my existence right now. I use the Tornado mop but it doesn't ring out well enough and my grout is turning black because I have to mop my kitchen every single day a d the more I mop the worse it gets. I need a steam mop. As far as vacuum, we habe all hard floors and we just bought a Bissell hard floor pet hair vacuum and its amazing. It was like $45 on amazon.

I have the Dyson Animal and LOVE it.
What do you use to clean the floors besides a vac/broom?(Mop/steam/ swiffer/other) I use the vacuum and then a mop.
Do you make any homemade cleaning products, and how well do they work? Yes, apple cider vinegar and water. Works like a charm!
Any cleaning product you can't live without? Besides vinegar and water spray, I love the cleaning wipes for a quick clean up in the bathroom or kitchen. I also go back and forth between my homemade spray and Murphy's Oil for our hardwood.

I have a Eureka Multicyclonic Zuum vacuum, that I bought a couple months ago because my other piece of crap vacuum, that wasn't even a year old, had plastic pieces falling out of it when I used it. I took a chance on the Eureka because it was a lot less than I was anticipating on spending, but so far I'm really pleased with it. I have a large dark colored area rug that shows everything, so it has to be vacuumed daily, sometimes more than once a day, so it definitely gets a lot of use. I also do my hard wood floors with it, usually every day.
I had a Shark steam mop for a couple years but one day the handle snapped off, making it useless, and I couldn't quite get myself to buy another. i have been using a mop that is similar to a Swiffer Wet Jet in style, but you fill it with your own cleaner of choice and the pads are washable instead of disposable. It's made by Rubbermaid. It works well enough, but once I have a crawling baby in the house again, I will most likely buy another Shark steam mop.
For cleaners, I use Clorax Green Works for mostly everything, which i'm guessing that was what aegis was talking about.
What kind of vac do you have, and what do you think of it? I have a wanna-be Dyson. Hate it. Wish I still had a Dyson (it was smashed to smithereens moving).
What do you use to clean the floors besides a vac/broom?(Mop/steam/ swiffer/other) Broom and mop.
Do you make any homemade cleaning products, and how well do they work? Vinegar and Dawn mix all over the bathroom works like a dream. Diluted vinegar on the hardwoods and tile. Heavy duty chemicals on kitchen/toilets/sinks.
Any cleaning product you can't live without? Tilex Mold and Mildew. Vinegar.
