She always has, always will. Hates hates hates it. When I was younger, we had someone come in every few weeks and do the shit she didn't want to do...deep cleaning and dusting, things like that.
Years ago (like 7) they decided not to spend the money anymore and cancelled the service.
I'm thinking for mother's day, my dad and brother and sil and me taking her out to lunch, maybe a movie, all the things you do on mother's day...meanwhile a cleaning service comes in and cleans everything and she will walk in the door at the end of the day with a sparkly clean house. She doesn't like surprises, but somehow I think she will like this one.
What do you think? I can't afford it by myself, so I'm thinking my family may chip in and do a combined gift for her.
I don't like surprises, and I also hate to clean. Unfortunately, I don't think I would like this surprise, because I feel weird about strangers being in my private business. But if your mom used to have a cleaner maybe she wouldn't have the same feeling?

I would be like this, too.
However, we just had a conversation about this a few weeks ago and how she wishes my dad would let her have a bimonthly cleaning service again. I think she would be okay with it.
I might have to pick up a bit before they show up (like I said, she doesn't like to clean and my folks are busy...lots of papers and magazines around) but that's nbd.
Have I told you guys the story about when my parents first got their two cats (which are now rehomed) and they were confined to my parents' room for awhile, to get used to things?
One of them had gone under the bed and I was on the floor trying to see where she had went...and under the bedside table was an impressive collection of lube?
No?
Since I didn't notice until my face was inches away from the stuff, maybe the cleaning people wouldn't notice. lolol

UGH! I walked into my mom's room to get a sweater when I was visiting last summer and right there on her dresser was a big ol' (Costco sized) bottle of lube!
Seriously, Mom, put that shit away and pass me the bleach for my eyes!!

YES!
My parents wouldn't like it (they are private and secretive and wouldn't like other people dusting their junk collection), but I think it's a great idea for your mother!
