Secrets Silversands

Anyone stayed here? We are working on a group trip...unfortunately I don't think that Secrets Maroma will be in the budget. I think SS is the lower end of the Secrets resorts.

I haven't, but I know a little bit about it. It's known for being the most modern of the Secrets resorts in terms of styling. Beach is ok, not great, pretty rocky. I've heard it has a more party atmosphere than some of the other Secrets.

If you're looking for lower prices than Secrets Maroma, but higher end feeling than SS, maybe look into one of the two Excellence resorts? Excellence Playa Mujeres will consistently come up lower in price than SM, but gets as good of reviews. In my research, I have read tons of threads where people are debating between the two, but most people seem to think the only thing Maroma has over EPM is the beach.

Might be a good match. Excellence Riviera Cancun is another option, not as new as EPM, but will be less expensive.

My SIL/bro visited all RM-area Secrets 3 resorts last Oct (Silversands, Capri and Maroma) and said Silversands was the worst. The food wasn't as good and the beach is terrible compared to others.

We HMed at Maroma and loved it. We had friends HM at Capri (Playa de Carmen) and based on their pictures and chats, it seems almost as nice. I know Capri is usually cheaper, I would look at them, but avoid Silversands

We went there earlier this month and loved it!! We are not big beach people though so the seaweed and rockiness didn't bother us. The pools are amazing. We thought the food was great! The service was great and we loved the spa as well, if you're interested in that. We are THRILLED with the trip we got for the price.
