About 6 weeks ago we relocated from Seattle to London with our dog, Betty. She's a 2 year old corgi/terrier mix.
I just noticed that Betty has started chewing one of the legs of the dining chairs at the hotel. She's chosen to chew the 2 legs that face the wall (you can't see the chew marks unless you completely pull the chair out), but she hasn't chewed any of the legs that you can actually see. And then a few weeks ago she completely destroyed my rain boots. She never did this while we were living in Seattle. She doesn't chew anything that she's not supposed to while we're home.
I leave her plenty of toys (both mentally stimulating and treat based, treat stuffed kongs, nina ottosson puzzles, anters, nylabones, etc...) before I leave the place, but she won't play with them while we're gone. We'll come home after a few hours to find that the treats are still in the toys and the minute we get home she'll start playing with the toys and get the treats out within 20 minutes. It's like she's trying to show off for us or something.
She gets a minimum of an hour walk a day. I try to take her out for a walk right before I know that I'm going to leave her, so I know she's tired, but apparently that's not helping.
She got a perfectly clean bill of health before we left (6 weeks ago), so I don't think it's health issues.
I'll go get the apple bitter spray at the pet store right when they open tomorrow and she won't be staying home alone for a while. We still have her crate, but if we crate her then she barks and cries. I think she's a little fearful of her crate now because of the move.
Anyone have any ideas on why she just started and tips on what I can do to stop this besides the spray?

Our rottie is going through a lot of health issues and she started chewing out of stress. We use the bitter sprays, and that seems to help. We also got her extra toys and big bones for her to chew on. She avoids the toys but the bones are a winner. We pick up large pork and femur bones and she will go to town on those.
If she is being really destructive, your best bet is to kennel her and maybe give her a tempting bone in there. She will be much safer from eating something she shouldn't, even if she is a bit loud. I would try to increase her activity as well, maybe do more training with just basic and agility type things where she has to think. A tired mind will calm her more than a tired body.
