We hardly ate anything even though we were served first and had a sweetheart table. People just kept coming up to talk to us nonstop. That remains one of my biggest pet peeves to this day. It's so rude. Guests should realize that it's probably the first time the bride and groom have had to sit down all day, let alone eat! Let the couple have two damned minutes to sit down instead of crashing their table to chat.
Fortunately our caterer sent us home with a box containing a bottle of wine, cheese, crackers and fruit. We were very thankful for it, as we realized we were extremely hungry after we left the reception.
Whenever I'm in a wedding, I make a point of making sure the bride and groom have food in front of them so they can eat if they want. And I have packed picnic baskets for my siblings and put them in the getaway car, just in case.
Didn't have time to eat the food or the cake. DH and I wound up taking the top layer of cake with us when we left the reception and had it for breakfast the next morning. lol
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
Our day-of coordinator had some plates of appetizers and cocktails prepared & set aside for us so that we could stay in the receiving line and not have to flag down waiters.
We had a seated dinner and ate at the same time everyone else did. We were served first; no guests came up to us. And I sure as hell had cake. The hotel staff also set aside additional cake slices and sent them up to our room.
I had a small destination wedding so we definately had time to eat. At some of the bigger weddings I have attending and been in the bridal party, we had snacks for while we were getting ready, snacks for picture time and then the bride and groom are always served first or go thru the buffett first. Just try to make it a priority and you will be fine.
I didn't really get the chance to eat or get drunk. Our caterer did have a meal for us for when we left the reception and it was the best food ever made.

We ate a lot at ours, but quickly so we could go make our rounds to the tables. We did miss the hors d'oeuvres and the late night pizza.
I also ate a ridiculous amount of cake. After we cut the cake, H wandered off and left his piece so I was like, well hell, I'll eat both of these. And then later I needed a break from people so I grabbed my dad and a piece of cake for each of us and we hid outside for a while.
In my family, the bride and groom are served first, followed by the wedding party, immediate family, officiant, and so forth. At my wedding, by the time the last guest had their food, we were done eating and had started making our rounds. I picked out and paid for the food, I wanted to eat it! It blows my mind that sometimes the bride and groom don't eat, or scarf something down quickly.
We had a buffet so we got to go first. When we were done eating, many of our guests were still in the middle of eating, so that's when we went around to talk to everyone. It worked out really well. We had an awesome caterer so there was no way I wasn't going to eat the food. I think H even went through the buffet line twice lol.

Our lives revolve around food so we made sure to eat at ours. When we showed up to our reception venue we went into a private room where the caterer had left us all the different hors d'oeuvres options to eat before joining the guests for cocktails. Then during dinner we sat and ate dinner just like everyone else. Our reception was more like a dinner party than a wedding reception so the dinner was in a separate room from the dancing so everyone finished dinner completely before moving to other room for dancing/party-time. And then the caterer boxed up the mini-desserts for us to take back to the hotel. I chose a venue specifically so that I could choose my own caterer - there was no way I wasn't devouring every bite!
I ate at mine. People tried to come up and talk to us in the middle of dinner, and I just asked them politely to allow us to eat and then I would come talk to them.

This fatty doesn't go without food. We did pics before so during the cocktail hour, we stayed in the bridal suite (bride, groom, bridal party and parents) and they brought in tons of apps and drinks. We had a sweetheart table and no one bothered us. I know I went around to all the tables, but not sure at what point. We had a long reception (6 hours) and I made sure the ceremony began right on time. So we were ahead of schedule all night.
I definitely ate at ours. I didn't get dessert though because we were up and about hugging people after they gave speeches and our waiter cleared my dessert plate too soon!! I was ticked!
This happened to me! It was our wedding cake that I had taken a piece of (after the cutting of the cake) and they cleared the table!

I ate dinner at mine but didn't get any cake besides what we fed each other. That's probably my biggest wedding regret. That cake was freakin' delicious lol.

We ate dinner and cake, but I hadn't really eaten before that (nerves plus busy). I will say, if possible, serve the salad or bread or something during the toasts. I had our catering people bust those salads out as soon as we sat down. People are much happier when they get to eat during long toasts.

Our hall provided us with a private cocktail hour in our bridal suite. DH and I were starving and ate a ton but that was the last time we ate. We didn't have time to eat any of the course during the main dinner. We were pulled out of pictures or were walking around greeting people.

I ate at mine! We had a kickass meal that I did not want to miss. Actually I ate all day long. My BMs were too nervous to eat (no clue why) but I sure did.
Eff that, I paid too much not to eat the food. And it was delicious. We had a sweetheart table and they served us first, we ate, then we got up and did table visits before the next course.
