So I've changed my mind..lol. We're getting our master bedroom, closet and bathroom painted when my doors get done.
What color should I do? Room is white right now. Lots of black accents. I have a thing for bold patterend, bright multicolored bedding. In all the colors!
Requirements:
The area is off our main room and kitchen which is red and white. A tie in would be nice since you can see it all together but not necessary.
I change bedding like the weather and like I said it covers all the colors...so I'm not worried about it coordinating with the paint.
I do want an actual color. Don't tell me greige. Not too bold though since it covers 3 rooms.
I'm thinking right now the gray that's currently in our guestroom (Ace Winterstorm). Real true medium gray. Blends in with the other areas, still a "bold" enough color for me but neutral enough to match a lot.
Thoughts, suggestions? Part of me wants to a fun orange esp. in the bathroom but I think it'd clash with the red.
Talk me through this. I've already used my favorites in other areas. Oh the plight of a color lover.

What if you did gray in the bedroom and orange in the bathroom? Gray and orange go together, but with the bedroom as a buffer between the red and the orange, I think it would be cool.
Mrs. J I like the idea of gray in the bedroom/closet and orange in the bathroom. It's far enough apart no one would ever connect the two by that point. And the orange I want is pretty deep like the red so when I compare the two together it's not bad.
LOL THR! I know you hate gray but it's the one neutral I consider a color. The gray I want is to the darker side and fairly deep. I guess I don't consider greiges etc. a color because they just look dirty to me. Like I want to wash the walls..ha! To each their own. We'll just agree to disagree because you're probably right.
I despise all shades of purple in my own house..so that's out. Love it for others though for some reason.
Navy would be okay..but I just have so much black going on, I don't know if it'd look right at all.
Navy blue Yellow Khaki - Some shades of khaki are great (I have a red kitchen that opens in to our family room. The family room is khaki (but the color really changes as the day/light change from very light beige to almost a medium sage green at times).
You might Google some red stripped pillows - even if you aren't at all interested in striped anything - that will show you which colors look good together. Check out cushions for patio furniture, they often have red with other colors too.
This is my question too. Lots of colors look good with red. If you know the rgb code for the color you're working with, you can play with color schemes here: colorschemedesigner.com/.

My living room/dining room are currently painted a tuscan red, yellow and a peachy orange color. I know. It sounds awful but it really does all work together.
I just painted our playroom a aqua blue. It's really bold, but thne again it's a playroom that it away from the main part of the house so I could take a risk and if it sucked then no one would ever really see it. Anyways, it turned out really neat. I have a lot of red accents in the room to.
Good luck choosing a color! I have the hardest time with this part and I always end up just going with my first instinct and it seems to work out!
Thanks girls! I responded last night and see it didn't post. The red I'm talking about is bright true red. Think CASE Tractor red (It's actually the dealership office colors..lol..I asked the salesman when we were doing our kitchen what color it was exactly!). Green was an option as well. I might do the bathroom in a fun green and the rest gray. I already have a lot of green going on, so I don't know if I want what amounts to 3 more whole rooms of it. H suggested painting the bathroom the same aqua as our other guestroom. Which is bright and doing the rest gray. We did a test sample last night and I liked. It also really popped with the red because they're the same intensity. That color makes me so damn happy too.
We also tried orange..giant fail. Looks horrible with the tan-ish gray floor and the woodwork. 15 swatch cards of orange and they were all horrible except for the pale, muted, almost brown orange..which isn't me.
Update: So the painter stopped by last night to check it out and give me an estimate. We're doing all gray. When he put it on his computer screen I liked how big and open and cohesive it made the rooms feel. Also my floor and counters are pretty beige with some gray veining and I liked how the gray toned down the beige and pulled out the darker tones. Also, I have enough color going on and I love it..but even I have my limits. I don't want this place to look like a fun house. I'll also have this paint color for awhile, so gray will coordinate with a lot and I know I won't tire of it. The painter also told me the first instinct is also what people like best and gray was mine. I also want to enjoy that color! I love it. However, it's in E. student's room so I never see it.
My doors also look AWESOME in black according to the computer. Very classy but still kind of edgy (For this area anyways) and fun!
