We just got brought home two new fosters from a puppy mill (story on blog now) and they are stinking up our guestroom like no other.
Has anyone bought the pet plug-in type air freshners? Or have recommendations on how to remove the terrible dog-smell? (I've tried my Scentsy but it doesn't work)
Covering up the smell probably won't work as well as keeping your house aired out and just vacuuming up behind them. Can you open the windows and run a fan in the doorway to circulate the air where they are? Maybe leave an open baking soda box up somewhere in the guest room where they hang out? Washing their bedding once a week will keep the stink down too while you're fostering them.
Have they had a bath recently? Both of our dogs smelled terrible coming home from the shelter, and a good bath helped with that. Some dogs just have oilier coats and more of a personal funk that doesn't come with a short-term fix A switch to a higher-quality food has helped in the long-term with our coonhound.
These have been a staple in our house since we got Taylor in Dec. For some reason 1 dog = no noticeable odor, 2 dogs = ICK. Im not sure if Taylor is just a smellier dog or what....
In the meantime- a 50-50 mix of vinegar and water. Spray that shit everywhere...even on the dogs (lightly and only if they have no cuts).
I do this. Also, put a little bit of baking soda with an essential oils (like lemon, orange, lavender, jasmine, etc.) in a dish in a corner of a room. That will also help eat the odors in the room.

Are pet odors, an ongoing challenge? An all-natural paint additive has been developed, that turns any newly painted wall surface, into an effective and permanent air purification system, no electricity or filters required. The Air-ReNu, technology continuously removes offensive pet odors and improves indoor air quality.
