Can you share what prenatal vitamin you took or are taking? Over the past years I've been doing a multi vitamin and a separate folic acid tablet because that worked best for me. But now I am paranoid that I should take a real prenatal vitamin. I also don't know if maybe they'll be prescribed for me, but so far I wouldn't have a prescription for at least another bunch of weeks. Thanks!
Right now I'm just taking a crappy CVS brand prenatal with DHA. That is the important ingredient in a prenatal according to my Doc. My OB never prescribed me one. She said any OTC would be fine as long as it had iron and DHA. My primary Dr prescribed me one the first time I was pregnant and saw her because how in the world was I supposed to wait until 8 weeks?? But there was confusion at the pharmacy and OTC just ended up being easier. I dread taking it every day. I heard the gummy ones are easier to stomach sometimes.
Vita fusion gummies were a life saver because I had an awful gag reflex when I was pregnant (although the Target brand have essentially identical ingredients and I switched over to those). Around week 20 my OB had me start taking a slow release iron (it was super tiny, and I could swallow that).

My first pregnancy I could take any prenatal, but my second they all made me really sick to my stomach except for the Trader Joe's brand. That's what I've taken this time too.
I take the CVS gummy prenatals. It is important to know that if you do have iron issues, you want to make sure your prenatal does NOT have iron in it. You can't take iron in conjunction with several of the common ingredients in a prenatal. It can negate the absorption. My MW told me that there is not much difference between OTC prenatals and prescription ones.
Those gummy ones give me massive MS. I think I am the only person who is not a fan. I take the women's once a day prenatal with DHA. I also take extra folic acid as requested by my doctor.
I asked if I should be taken prescription and my doctor said their isn't much difference from OTC.
I also started taking my prenatals at night. Mostly due to the fact that I take Synthroid (for my thyroid) in the morning and it can't be taken in conjunction with anything else but I have noticed that I no longer get MS from my prenatals like I did in all my prior pregnancies.
I took Rainbow Light Prenatals with a seperate DHA (belly bar citrus...they were vegan, too. At about 20 weeks, I started Solgar gentle iron (stops tummyupset and constipation.)
I took Rainbow light because I got free samples at the health food store and because it is vegan.
