Does anyone have any experience with vestibular disorder? He came down with it Wednesday night and everything I read online says to wait and see. How long do I wait? Right now he just doesn't seem happy. He doesn't have the same life to him that he used to have. I don't want him to suffer and I can't make the decision.
For reference he is a 14 year old German Shepard/Siberian Husky mix.

A month ago we thought our 9 yr old Rottie had vestibular. What sypmtoms is your dog showing? Is he eating? Drinking? A lot of times VD can get worse before it gets better. It can last 3 weeks, but generally gets really bad where the dog cannot walk, eat or drink without assistance. But is is not painful nor does it leave any lasting effects. Some dogs come out of it with a mild head tilt that stays, but their quality of life returns to normal.
Have you talked to your vet? When we though our girl had it, they had us pick up some motion sickness pills because she was not eating anything at all. I ended up having to handfeed her canned chicken for a couple weeks. She refused every other kind of people food.
From all I read and was told by our vet and the Neurologist we consulted with the vestibular is not a life ending condition. It just needs to run its course and there is not much you can do in the mean time. GL!

I also wanted to add, make sure you see your vet if you have not already. Ear infections can also cause vestibular like syndroms. As can a stroke or other brain issues. In our case, our dog ended up having Encephalitis. She is now on daily pills for the problem and the symptoms and is back to her normal happy self.
