Substitution for white wine

Can I substitute broth for white wine in most recipes? I did it with risotto and it turned out fine. I was just looking at the pasta with corn and bacon recipe in a previous post and it calls for wine. Both DH and I are in recovery so we don't use any alcohol while cooking. That recipe sounds so yummy!

I often use apple juice.

If a recipe calls for white wine and I don't have any in the house, I use chicken broth.

I like the apple juice idea. Or broth with a splash of lemon juice to mimic the acidty of wine.
