I just Googled it, and apparently it's a donut shop and a semi-common surname. I haven't found any other instances of it as a first name. So I guess it's youneek.
This reminds me of names my stbx made up when trying to name son#2. He's into Irish sounding names, but not REAL Irish names. He really wanted Doogan. Or Deegan. No joke. (Thank God any future babies will be with SOMEONE ELSE! lol)
If it is a semi-common surname I wonder if it was the mom's maiden name. I know some people do that, though I would be more apt to use it as a middle name if that were the case.

I know several guys who have their mother's maiden names as their first names and they are all in their late 30s and early 40s so definitely not part of the youneek names movement we see going on now.
At the zoo this week, this adorable little blond kiddo was toddling around and his name was Crash. "Don't crash, Crash!" His adults thought they were being hilarious. I bet he'll be sick of that one before he hits school-age.

I know someone (ok, I just read her blog) who named her daughter Laughter. She said she wanted to name her baby a word and laughter is what came to her one day.
