They've always been gone too quick to get a photo.
I was on the train next to Matt Pinfield last week. I was thinking of talking to him (he used to be on a local radio morning show and I wanted to tell him that I miss it), but he was talking to someone else and I didn't want to be a douche. If I had talked to him and he was nice, I might have asked if he'd take a photo with me.
Something that has always surprised me (the few times that I saw famous folk) is how much smaller they are in person. The camera does weird things to people.
lol yes. i am tall for a lady and they are always tiny.
one time i saw bob newhart at the airport and i wanted to pick him up and toss him in the air like a small child.
Back before I lived in CA I ran into Matthew McConaughey in the pool in Cabo (like 10 years ago when he was mega hot)I actually have video of it someplace. That was pretty much all I've ever "run into". I do have pics with Ice T but those were in my home back in the day when my DH used to work with CoCo. Now when I see them I just want to respect their privacy and I feel weird. Unless I run into Alexander Skarsgard, I might ask for a pic and then faint.
I live in Nebraska, so not even sports players here
I did see Mariano Rivera (closer for the Yankees) when I was in New York and walked behind him for two blocks trying to decide if I should ask for a picture, but he was with his family so I decided against it. Instead, I took a picture of him driving away in his car, which is way less weird (not).
I think the most famous people I've ever met are the Hager twins from Hee Haw. I had no clue who they were but my mom made me have my picture taken with them. I was about 10.
I've never snapped pics when I see celebs on the street or in a restaurant, but I did ask the bassist of Phish for a picture when I saw him at a laser light show.
The only pictures of a celebrity I have are of Jayma Mays (Emma from Glee) from when we were interns together in the early 2000s.
Other than that, it's kind of considered uncouth here to take pics of celebs when you're working with them. Though there were a lot of David Byrne pics and stories from my friends when they were working with him recently. He seemed really cool!
I only really saw celebs when I still lived in LA, and then I was wee. I met a smattering, but it was usually personal encounters versus sightings, so it was too tacky. Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman were at my cousin's Bat Mitzvah and I met them, but no pic. I also met the X-Files stars at a homeless shelter. Those stories were scintillating, eh?
My husband was a valet parker long ago for Danny DeVito's birthday party. LOL.
@kizmet, I don't even know who this guy is lol. I saw Vineeta Sawkar jog on Summit Ave once. And I see the weather guy and news anchor for my town almost everyday. I also see the local radio host.
Oh, wait! I once saw someone more famous than the Hagar twins. Once in my Atl burb my family saw the actor who played Chip in My Three Sons. I did actually know who that was from all of my dad's Nick at Night watching, lol. We didn't take a pic, but that was before everyone had camera phones. Plus, he looked nothing like Chip given that he was an older man with grey hair and wrinkles. The waitress told us who he was, then after discreetly staring for a while, we were like, yeah, we can sort of see the resemblance. Ha.
OH, WAIT! This is a for real celeb (but still lame). I saw Kenny Rogers at the movies once in Athens, GA, where the University of Georgia is located. He and some skinny big boobed chick who was inappropriately dressed for her age (leather miniskirt with cowboy boots) were standing around in the hallway, and I was standing next to them waiting on my friends. I didn't snap a pic or say anything. He had a ranch near Athens and people I know would occasionally run into him. A friend of mine saw him at a restaurant where he saw her looking at him and smiled, and he then took care of her check.
If I actually ran into an A list celeb I would be starstruck and would definitely snap a photo, which I know makes me lame. But I don't care. It's not like they would become my BFF if I refrain from snapping a pic.

I CANNOT BELIEVE I FORGOT THIS STORY, because it just happened yesterday.
one of h's best friends lives in washington. he works somewhere where he has to take a ferry to and from work. he is red headed and skinny, and has a red beard/goatee thing.
anyway, yesterday he was sitting in line to get on the ferry in his car and some people started freaking out and taking pictures of him. he couldn't figure out why, but they came up and started asking for autographs. he was so confused, and asked why. they thought he was jesse tyler ferguson from modern family. lolololllll
he does have a resemblance, i could see from a few yards away mistaking him, but i never would have thought of it otherwise.
Don't really see celebs. I think I can be pretty oblivious most of the time.
However, I did get Warren G's autograph and met the brother from Napoleon Dynamite (Kip, Aaron Ruel). H had pizza with Kip and got an autographed action figure for me. No pictures though.

They are just starting to film in our area. Ryan Gosling is directing. Matt Smith, Eva Mendez and Christina Hendricks (I think that's her last name) are starring.
I can assure you that if I run into Matt Smith in real life I'll be too busy making a fool of myself by staring to make a fool of myself trying to take/ ask for a photo.
Then I'll beat myself up days for being ridiculous.
