H had an interview at 530 on Monday for a home inspection job that he was referred for by our REA. I had posted a random status about H getting his certificate and our agent posted that the guy that he uses to do his client's (including ours) home inspections would be hiring soon. He talked to H on Thursday about it and said 'if he doesn't call you by tonight, give me a call and I'll take care of it'. Well, he didn't call so H called the agent and 10 minutes later, the guy called to set up the interview.
When H left he said he had one more interview on Tuesday and then he'd call the 4 of the candidates on Wednesday, if they got the job or not. Welp, he didn't call. H called to follow up Thursday afternoon and he didn't answer. He just called again and he didn't answer again. I'm assuming he didn't get the job, but is there anything else we should do? H wants to call our agent to see what he has to say, but that makes me uneasy.
Should we call our agent and let him know whats going on? Since they guy promised he'd call no matter what or should we just let it go?
I would let it go. I'm not really sure the point of telling your REA. And unfortunately, often times the notice that you didn't get a job is no notice. Youjust never hear anything again. It sucks, but... that's how it works.

Yeah, that's where I am. H's reasoning for bringing our agent ( he's a friend as well, we've all hung out since we bought our house) into it would be from the earlier experience where he said 'let me know if he doesn't call you and I'll take care of it'. He's doing business with this guy and he might want to know that he's being shady? Meh, I don't really want to do that but H is really bummed about this.

I don't know that I would call it shady, though. He just may be really bad at saying "Sorry- you didn't get the job" and is just avoiding it. It sucks - trust me, I get it. But I don't see it as shady.
Maybe your H could email him and thank him for the interview, and just say something along the lines of "checking in to see if they have made a decision in regards to the position"
I mean, if he didn't get it, the email isn't going to change anything, but he might get an answer, either yes or no, if he sends an email.
It sucks. I do feel for him. I had a phone interview w/ a recruiter a couple months ago. I was REALLY interested. It was the first job prospect that actually got me excited. She said she would pass my resume on, I should hear from someone in a few days, etc.
A few days passed, I shot her an e-mail, and.... crickets. And it was EMAIL. How hard is to write back a generic "thanks for your interest but...." response?
