At middle school this morning, before I even got to shitshow client. A girl walked by my other client and mouthed off to him. After she left, he looked at me and said out the side of his mouth, "well ain't SHE a smarmy asshole?"
And this week, guys. At this point, all I could do was close my eyes and say "yes. But you know that's inappropriate." He snorted and said, "well yeah, it's also TRUE."
And I contemplated just laying down and quitting it all then and there. But I didn't. And so I lived for another kicking/punching session, today complete with getting nails dug into me and pencils being thrown like spears, another day.

I had to pick up a girl today who weighs damn near what I weigh, while she was kicking and SCRATCHING THE SHIT out of my, and screaming bloody murder. All because she was pissed off that after she had been an asshole all day, and then I wouldn't let her help wash tables after lunch.
I was calm at first (channeling my inner sue sue), and told her that little girls who don't behave in school don't get to be a helper after lunch, but then she threw her self down to the ground and started screaming like she was on fire, so I had to haul her ass up stairs to the office when she mauled me.

Hugs to ombligo and sake. I don't know how special ed teachers do it. I have mad props for sped teachers. I've seen what they have to deal with and I'm just glad their are people in this world like you guys to do that type of work.

I am so sorry you had a rough day. My husband is a TA for Special Ed Kindergarten, and up until this year, many of his days would go like that. This year isn't too bad, thankfully.
I'm sorry Ombiglo. If this is too much you CAN find something else. It's ok to try something and decide on a different direction.
And also, if you want to, you can totally rock this. The fact that you can make us all laugh with these stories shows that you have an awesome attitude.

it's posts like yours that make me SO GRATEFUL that I work with computers... I'll leave the social worky stuff to my DH who handles 'difficult' behavior SO much better than I do.
