I'm just curious. I work in a somewhat casual environment but we are not allowed to wear flip flops. I wouldn't really want to though considering some of the places I go. What kinds of shoes do you wear to work in the summer?

I'm a teacher and pretty much anything as long as it is deemed "safe." They are much more concerned in the winter after two coworkers have gotten compound fractures from slipping on ice.

I think officially the dress code says sandals are ok but no flip flops but last year they said "fancy" flip flops were ok but most people (even managers) wear your basic old navy type flip flops.
Though there's a number of people (again including a manager) that walk around the office barefoot during the warmer days.
Anything short of a flip-flop is acceptable. Even "nice" flip-flops (like leather with a heel) are ok. It's more about the look than the actual categorization.
Like people wear stuff like this. No problem.
I wear the same shoes all year long. I wear peep-toes in the dead of winter. LOL.
They don't have rules but my boss gives us crap if we wear flip flops unless they are bedazzled or something. Strangely, one lady wears house slippers but she has a different manager.
None - the environment is too hazardous. We have to wear "sturdy" shoes - no flip flops, no crocs, no shoes without a heel, cannot wear high heels or any shoe with a heel that has less than a 2" walking surface.
Kind of takes the fun out of dressing up nicely, but usually I'm okay with it
We can wear anything short of flip-flops, which is fine, but the rationale behind it bothers me. My principal claims we can't wear flip-flops because our students aren't allowed to wear them, which is BS, in my opinion. If that's the rule, then say, "Teachers don't wear flip flops because it's unprofessional.", not "Teachers don't wear flip-flops because the K-6th graders you teach see you & think it's not fair." There's a very long list of things I can do that my 6th graders cannot.

I can get away with dressy flipflops at the most casual of footware, but the flapping sound when walking usually annoys me. I generally opt for strappy heels in the summer--usually a wedge.

We can wear pretty much anything but casual flip flops like Old Navy sandals. I wear Clarks flip flops to work almost everyday in the summer.
Most of the time if there are no clients in the office the girls will just run around without any shoes on. I work for an insurance agency and our office is a house that was turned into an office so it is pretty laid back.
We had to have our whole foot covered. No crocs w/ holes, or even clogs. They were lenient about the clogs if they were totally closed toe, but they were cracking down on crocs when I left. I can't blame them, I mean, hospitals are gross with sharps and fluids everywhere. I wouldn't want that falling through a HOLE in my shoe. Blech.
