Thanks for linking that. I really enjoyed the trailer. It's funny that one of them said that her mom kept telling her to wait to have kids. I wonder if our generation will do the opposite and tell our daughters to have kids earlier to avoid this heartache? My sister is 27 and been with her bf for 5 years, I told her to start thinking of ttc in the next couple of years. I don't want her to go through this too.
I am definitely thinking about donating. I have heard about these programs but not sure how they work either. If they don't reach their goal, do we get our money back?
A friend spotted your post and let me know. My name is Sybil, one of the women in and making Pushing Motherhood. To answer your question, Kickstarter is an online venue where people can submit their creative projects and if accepted, can then hope to fund their project through backers who want to support them and/or believe in their project. It's basically a virtual grassroots resource. Many great projects have been funded and made this way. I even believe that one was nominated for an Oscar recently. The downside about Kickstarter is that it is an ALL or NOTHING deal. For instance, so far people have pledged just over $20,000 for Pushing Motherhood. We have until May 24 to raise the full $50,000. If we fail to meet our goal, we don't receive any of the funds and are back to square one. BTW, credit cards are only charged if the project reaches its goal.
Hope you enjoyed the trailer and we'd love to have your support. Linda and I have poured our hearts and souls into the project and are hoping that our stories will help other women when they are mapping out their lives.
@mavjen, I regularly use kickstarter and so does DH. Like sybil said, unless the project reaches its goal, you don't spend any money. So, if you want to buy into the project, go ahead, kickstarter is a good company.
Thanks for posting. It looked really interesting and I want to see the entire film. I am going to think about donating. If you donate $25, you get a digital download of the film. $1000 or more and you get to be mentioned as a producer, lol!
I have never used Kiskstarter, but there was a recent post on MM about it:
