Who lives in or knows Miami? Can you comment on any of these restaurants? And, if so, try to be a little more specific than "You must eat there! It's so good!" (i.e., convince me why the place is worth my time).

I've only been to Joe's Stone Crab. It's like an "old boy's club" type restaurant with big steaks and lots of seafood. They get a little more creative with the salads and sides (for example, I had an heirloom tomato salad with a white balsamic ice vinaigrette) but for the most part it's like surf and turf and potatoes. It's completely unpretentious and I really liked it, but I can't say that the food was anything way different from any other steakhouse. The key lime pie, however, was I-would-eat-it-off-the-floor good, and better than any of the ones we tried in Key West.
Random, but in Key West, tucked away in the middle of a residential area, there is a Cuban restaurant called El Siboney that was so good. It looks like a Denny's and they serve huge quantities of really delicious (and supposedly authentic, though I don't have a huge frame of reference) Cuban food. Also check out the Rum Bar in Key West - home of Bahama Bob Leonard, rum expert and my facebook friend (lol!).

Oh, goody. This El Siboney sounds very promising! Thank you so much!

Re: The Haitian restaurant. I just passed that reccomendation on to a friend 2 weeks ago, and he really liked it. He also grew up eating homemade Haitian food.
