I've been dairy free since Monday, aside from 2 bites of a donut on Wed AM when I totally forgot. Overall, it's okay. I finally went shopping and picked out some decent-sounding replacements (almond milk, soy yogurt, tofu, etc) and am trying some new recipes. I also went to my first acupuncture appointment on Saturday and it was interesting. The vegan blogosphere is STRANGE. Did you know they make "cheese" sauce from cashews?
That said, I can't seem to make a fucking decent cup of fucking coffee without my fucking milk. Almond "milk" is not milk. It's soaked almond water that just happens to be opaque, so everyone's all "MILK! IT TASTES THE SAME!" NO. It is not my delightful flavored creamer.
I've been without a decent cup of coffee for a week. GMAIL SMASH RAGE.
It hasn't gotten worse, but it hasn't cleared up entirely, either. IDK how long I'm supposed to do it for before seeing a difference, but I figured It'd try for 2 weeks...give my system a chance to clear out all the milk proteins, I guess?
Silk makes flavored "milk" but my experiences have been that soy milk curdles in coffee.
I was dairy free for a while for DD2 and I settled for dairy free powdered creamer. Definitely not the same as liquid creamer but it did give my coffee a little flavor and creaminess.

I went pretty much dairy free for about two months when I thought my baby had a sensitivity. It's hard!! I wasn't crazy about all ingredients but cut out the major sources. I did find that I felt much better, and my stomach was instantly flatter. Dairy apparently causes inflammation, and eliminating dairy really helps with weight loss.
I've never had a problem with Silk curdling in my coffee. I generally put a little coffee in, add soy, then add the rest of the coffee. Other soy products have, but Silk seems to stand up the best. (It's also what Starbucks makes their soy lattes, etc. out of.)

Same here! I went dairy and soy free for 4 months and it sucks but I lost like 15 pounds and I gained 10 back when I re introduce dairy.
I eat dairy now but in a much more limited quantity. Rarely put cheese on sandwiches for example. I don't miss it as much as I thought I would!
You'll get used to the milk. Don't give up on it yet. I can barely stand cow's milk now...soy in my hot chocolates and almond milk in my cereal only!
I'm thinking about going dairy free again because my skin currently looks the worse it has in 15 years. And my hormones are all jacked up (heavy spotting mid-cycle, which has never happened). This coincided with me eating regular ice cream again.
