I enjoy reading about conspiracy theories, but I don't put much stock into them. I think there are things the gov't isn't totally honest with us about, obviously, but I think most conspiracy theories are pretty out there.
I think the government does have a lot more surveillance on us and intelligence operations than we're aware of. I got nothing to hide, so it doesn't worry me
Beyond that, I don't buy in to most of this stuff.
I think Oswald acted alone; I don't think the government has had any contact with aliens, nor do I think that aliens helped to build the pyramids; I don't think the US govt took 9/11 as an opportunity to blow up extra super secret stuff; and I don't think there are mind control chemicals in flu shots
I'm not really a conspiracy theorist, although I will say the CEP post was alarming as fuck just because I can't believe people honestly put stock in things like 9/11 truther theory and that whole reptilian/chemtrail thing which is so fucking out there it makes me think the poster may need hospitalization.
You took the words right out of my mouth.. Frightening
I read something this weekend from a former counterterrorism agent who said that pretty much every phone conversation is recorded. This made me feel even less paranoid. If they're recording evvvvery single convo, there's no way they're even remotely phased by anything I've ever said. It's too broad.
I just read some of that thread, kind of irritated with the 9/11 ones. I don't really believe in conspiracy theories. I know there is a ton the govt does that is classified, I think they are monitoring more than we think they are but neither of those issues bother me. They can't be transparent on everything, people would FREAK.
I really enjoy reading them, mostly because some are so out there it's funny, but don't really believe any.
Ok, I do generally think that governments watch people a lot closer than they'll admit it and possess technologies we'll only hear about in years but that's not exactly revolutionary thinking, is it?
Oh, and I do believe there is some sort of life out there simply because the universe is just too big for it to be empty, but I'm not saying they've built the pyramids!
I've only just started reading the post, so I want to amend my answer:
Some of the points made are reasonable imo and don't fall in my personal definition of conspiracy. ie: the Republican party's true motive for its pro-life platform and the pharmaceutical/food industries' efforts to keep us unhealthy and sick
Side note on Big Foot. DH sometimes watches Finding Bigfoot and it is hilarious. The guy will say something like "the grass has been flattened here, which can only mean one of two things. There is a big foot living in this area, or a big foot group living in this area".
DH and I talk to the TV "oh really? Those are the only two explanations? It couldn't be some other animal in the woods? Nope...it HAS to be big foot or a group of big foots (big feet?)"

If that makes me a theorist, then so be it
IMO, I view conspiracy theories as opinions on the moon landing, aliens, big foot, wacked out 9/11 theories.
I don't view the true agendas behind political parties and big business as conspiracy theories. Unless aliens are involved.
I was just thinking about conspiracy theories this morning when the Today show was talking about Princess Diana.
A few years ago, I read something how she was killed on purpose because they (The Queen and other royal family members)didn't want her to re-marry so they set it up to look like it was the papparazzi. I was really surprised when I read that one.
I think there are some conspiracy theories that Marilyn Monroe was killed as well. (The JFK affair was considered humiliating to the family).
The 9/11 and Sandy Hook (and now, Boston) conspiracies infuriate me though. I think it's great to have a discussion, but all these random weirdos on the internet now are all, "HERE'S THIS PHOTO WITH RANDOM CIRCLES AND RANDOM PEOPLE THAT PROVES THE GOVERMENT DID THIS!!!1!!1!"
Put me in the "I can't believe people buy into that conspiracy shit" category.
This Reptilian race has the capability to travel here from their home planet, using technology far beyond ours, form secret societies, but somehow doesn't have the ability to take over the planet and has to slowly poison us using chemtrails.
My sister believes in the Reptilians .
I love stories about your sister. Seriously, how do people believe in this shit?!

The Anunnaki/reptilian theories are my absolute favorite. So freaking out there and WUT. You should also look up "black eyed children" and get ready to crack up.

Not only they didn't want her to remarry but she was pregnant. By an Arab. The royal family just couldn't allow the future king to have a muslim step-brother or sister... well, according to the tabloids anyway.
OMG I knew I shouldn't have gone over there even to look at the thread. I clicked on the last page of it (mostly because I don't have the attention span for their epic threads) and of course, a vaccine/autism debate. That is the one and only topic they can discuss over there. Boring, predictable and fucking annoying. I blame myself for looking.
My favorite conspiracy (or maybe just crazy?) theory is my uncle's idea about "shadow people" who exist on a different vibrational plane. They can see us, but we can't see them, unless we learn to focus and open our minds or sumshit... He says a group of shadow people beat him up once because they were pissed he could see them. Oh, and my toddler can apparently see them, because he's "perceptive."

No fucking idea. She's nuts. She thinks the Teletubbies are actual aliens, sent to get the kids to like them, and then when the other aliens come, the children will turn against us and welcome the aliens and help them set up a society over us.
The Denver Airport conspiracy theory refers to a collection of theories surrounding Denver International Airport (DIA) that most commonly claim the airport to be a new, secret headquarters or compound used by the Illuminati, New World Order, Neo-Nazis, or Reptoids. These claims are usually based on a vague Swastika shape that the runways and taxiways make when seen from an aerial view as well as murals, sculptures, and other engravings claimed to be secret code or "alien" language.[1]

Did anyone watch SNL this weekend?
Zach Galifianakis made a Helen Keller joke (when he insutled a judge after he lost). "Who are you, Helen Keller? Oh come on! Everyone knows she knew what she was doing! She was milking it!"
DH's cousin believes in the Reptilians, but he's kind of crazycakes.
I have a friend who is a 9-11 truther and it suprised the crap out of me when I first heard it. He's a very smart, educated person. I lost a lot of respect for him after finding that out.
