We have a little Tikes house that I want to paint. I was looking at pinterest to see if anyone actually took the shutters off to paint and, bunnymendelbaum I came across the house you redid. pinterest.com/pin/281543699190644/
We have the exact same one. Did you just tape really well, or did you manage to get the shutter and the door off to paint it? Has anyone else painted these and have some tips? I'm feeling far too lazy to tape that much if I don't have to.

I could not get them off. I taped and used plastic bags on the door & shutters. My other suggestions are to make sure you use paint for plastic. (Ace can even special order more colors of the fusion.) I used one of those spray can nozzles too. Good luck!
I just painted mine and haven't blogged about it. I used wrapping paper and painters tape to cover the shutters and doors and it worked well. I really wish I could have gotten them off but didn't have any luck!

The bottom insert was smaller than the top and angled. So I pushed down on the windowsill and pulled up on the shutter while having them turned out so they were open. They came off embarrassingly easy, which was good. I tried painting them in place first and had over spray on the body of the house, despite taping and placing trash bags on it. So now it looks like a crime occured there and I have to paint the house as well, which I originally was not planning to do out of laziness. The door on the other hand, I had to have my husband do. It is set up much the same, but no angled insert.

I'm glad I tried! We're building a fort/playground (much like the handmade home's www.thehandmadehome.net/2012/06/a-handmade-hideaway/ ) for the kids and just wanted to spruce this up until then. I figured even if I broke something, the kids are pretty easy to please and would play with it just the same. Expecially since it was free, and a better playhouse is in the works. I just hope I can get them back on as easy.
