My parents are here to help with C. For the most part it's been going great but every so often I want to bang my head into the wall.
Case in point: once a month (at most) we'll get donuts for breakfast and C gets half of an old fashioned one. It's plain and not a ton of sugar. We picked some up last week as a treat.
Today they showed up with a half dozen and I asked them not to eat them around C because he didn't need any since we just had some. Mom said ok. Just now she tells me that she gave him part of one as an afternoon snack and got mad at me when I told her that I didn't want him having any. Ugh.
It's frustrating when they don't take your decisions seriously. My parents are the same way.
I have a 7 year old niece, and while I don't always agree with the choices my brother makes (they don't affect her safety or health), I always back him up because he is the parent. Meanwhile my parents just try to make her happy and play the hero when he tells her know. Drives me nuts.
And the best part about the whole thing is they left for their hotel as soon as DH got home from work and threw out the rest of the donuts before they left.
Seriously, stuff like that irritates the crap out of me. This reminds me of the time when MH's aunt tried to give G ice cream when she was 6 months old. I'm sorry.
